So I guess I have to either move them back even more or to get rid of them... Or perhaps go ahead and cut the leaves back as they die off. I'm surprised that your other perenials don't get high enough to hide the foliage -- the foliage seems to wilt down to the ground quite quickly once they begin to die off.

Most (but not all) of my established alliums are up, but those I planted last fall haven't appeared yet. I've noticed in prior years that newly planted bulbs take a little longer to come up in the spring.

These were 3 ft tall blooms with 18 " foliage but new to my garden so bloomed .shorter. Lemon yellow, sun/part sun. Flowers appear to hover above foliage. Hello Maryl I planted the Allium afflatunense both as the plain species and as cultivar Purple Sensation. I put them in a border with tall perennials, light sandy soil and irrigation in Berlin. I tended the garden in the two following years. Only thing I noticed was the Allium groups getting slightly bigger and when I transplanted a couple after flowering it looked like they formed few brood bulbs. I let the flower stalks stand for a while as they looked beautiful and cut them back only when they tipped over. And I never found any onion- or Allium- like seedlings when weeding. cheers, Linaria
