Discovery during bag rooting and question

Hi everyone-

Well while rooting in bags on top of my fridge, I discovered that my UCDavis cuttings are doing very well at setting little white root-lets after 3 weeks today... BUT my own sweet sachel and black mission are pushing out roots (1/2 inches)in less than half the time (9 days)! The only difference is that the latter were cut, wrapped and bagged at the time all of the leaves were just ready to emerge (within the last 9 days). If these do as well as I anticipate, I will be taking my own cutting in pre-emergent early spring rather than deep dormancy.

Also when I wrapped them with damp paper, I left both ends (approx 1 inch) out of the paper- didn't want to wrap the leaf buds.

Now my question- how long do I let the roots grow in the bag before transplanting to vermiculite in clear containers? I am still on dial-up and sometimes I cannot get all posted pix without waiting forever!

Thanks and take care,

Christy
