I don't know anyone growing blueberry from seed, but - Druse, Making More Plants Vaccinium (blueberry) seed: Clean of pulp then sow barely covered (some light may be beneficial to germination) outdoors in a protected spot (seed may need wide range of temps over a long period of time to break dormancy). Acidic medium as per rhododendron. Germination 365 days or longer.

Hi, I WS anything in the cabbage(brassica) family. They all will sprout in cool temps, so you will get an early start with them. Lettuce is the same way. I WS herbs, dill, Amsterdam celery, fennel, hyssop, basil, borage, etc. I have Cilantro come back for me, so it winter sows naturally here. It should be able to be WSed. Rhubarb does really well. Peas are direct sowed early so WSing is not necessary. The ones that I know that have a tendency to rot and not germinate are beans and corn. Squash need to be direct sown or transplanted when there are just a few true leaves. If the plants get too big, they don't recover well from transplanting and can be stunted. Eggplant like warm temps to germinate and grow. So even if it does get warm enough to get germination early, cold temps after germination can stunt growth, so it is best to grow them indoors and transplant when night temps stay above 50. Many people here have success WSing tomatoes. I can't comment on that. I grow them indoors because I keep track of each variety and transplant them into single cells. It just wouldn't work for me to WS them. Hope that helped some : ) Remy

I believe asparagus can be winter sown in my area if I am not mistaken. Though it will take about 3 to 5 years to be of a size to where you will be able to harvest it from seed. That is the main reason people will go with the asparagus crowns rather than the seeds. I may have some asparagus seed next year if you do not find any this year if you are interested. Well I say next year but come this late summer early fall I should of said. Though I do not know what kind it is. I also will be collecting some mulberry seeds about late spring. I think it may be a white mulberry, they take 10 years to produce but it is a beautiful tree!! Best tasting berry I have ever eaten, that is if I can beat the deer and wild turkeys to them. Mulberry experts, this one has 2 types of leaves. Does that sound like the white or have I mistaken it??

Any seed pod should be ready when its brown and looks like its ready to burst open. You can collect it by just cutting it off and putting it on a paper plate a cup or a paper sack which ever you prefer and then bring it inside and let it dry for a few days. As far as the wintersowing part I am not sure about but you could always try it I am very new to winter sowing but me personally I would give it a shot. You dont have to sow all of your seeds just keep some that you would like to winter sow and then a backup just in case. Heres a link in refrence to saving seeds.
