Out in the rain today,after photos again

If you want to see your DL's here,you have to go out in the rain to see them,and I couldn't stand it no longer,so out I went,then came back after the camera.Wasn't raining hard, just a good sprinkle,enough to get wet after a few minutes.I just had to get a photo of this beauty.Thanks Jan.

This one came from Home Depot several years ago.

I just love this one too. a great pink, Thanks Rita.

Haven't made up my m ind yet,if I like this one or not.I love the size (8 1/2 inch) and the color, but not the form yet.

And this one is a REAL Eye catcher.Very bright.Love it.Thanks Rita.Every one that sees it in my yard thinks its gorgeous, too.

This one was give to me several years ago,and have no idea about the name of it.Its about a 4 1/2 inch bloom,and about 20 inch tall.Its a Rusty looking red.

I hope I am not boreing all of you to death with all my picture taking,but, I am loving my DL's and love to share them.

Hi Jean, thanks for braving the elements and sharing your dl's with us. I too, have ventured forth into the rain and made a few today. :) Like you, if I want to see them blooming looks like I'll have to do it in the rain!!
I sure do love Incendiary....it just jumps out at you. Hey, no fair, your SOP looks much better than mine this year!! LOL
I'll try to upload some of my rain soaked photos later. Right now (shhhh, don't say it too loud) but I see some sun peeking through the clouds out there, so off I go again.

whooooo-hooo, whooo-hoo, on Abraham D'Arby!!!! Wooowza! Boxo, whenever I see your Abraham D'Arby it always is the Biggest and Best-AD always feels like a Powerload Surprise. Think of it this way....My poor Dad is stuck home all by himself while my Mom gets to cavort in Italy with her fellow choir members, singing and performing in Italy, lol! Well, I do my usual Friday and Sunday evening visit with my Dad, and he has waiting in the refrigerator the most delicious slice of Wild Oats Market organic cake with almond flavored real whipping cream topping with a hint of mascarpone and with blackberry/blueberry filling in it and cake in between! We only have that cake once in a blue moon so that was a huge surprise last night. That's the way I feel whenever we get to see Abraham D'Arby, it always feels like the BIGGEST and the BEST SERVING of the MOST DELICIOUS CAKE! Laden with full whipping cream, fruited filling, and heavenly scent of almonds, whenever I look at A.D And Hot Cocoa, my 2nd favorite in line, it's like having real Irish Coffee with whisky, a splash of Peppermint and lots of Cocoa laden. I could get drunk on that rose, hahaha! And once again, Hansa is really bringing down the house, hahaha on how loooooong and what a non-stop bloomer your rugosa is! whoooooa!!!! I can't even get my first-time rugosa to even send up an itsy bitsy bud yet, sheesh! But at least it's fully recovered! I was seriously worried at first. During the transit to my house USPS must have laid out the package several times outside in the blasting heat I suspect. 2/3rds of the leaves were goners, and the stems completely brown but looks like even the rugosa is loving my super dilute Gardenville sea tea. The leaves looks so fresh and green, but I'm still waiting for that flower. I tried to get Krista's Rotes Meer but no luck! And of course Hansa was not available. So instead I ended up with Amelie Gravereux, if it has no fragrance I'll be super mad! Hansa and Rotes have great fragrance, but Jim let me know that there are some folks in England who say it only has light fragrance :( :( :( The ratings that I read said strong/intense in the U.S. so now I'm sweatin' it. Ooooo Sunset Celebration is looking sooo beautiful too. Another one of my favorite roses.

Paradisi I like working in the rain too, but I wanted to prune my weeping bougainvillea's And thats a ladder job so I wont do it in the rain, you are so right though everything grows so much better after a good shower, beats tap water everytime. Thanks GH yes flowers are so beautiful so many different colours and shades. Hi Ya Tina so glad you like this OL's flowers you are right there are so many varieties around And I cannot grow a lot of the cold climate ones otherwise I would have many more. Cheers..MM.

oops, wasn't finished...these will grow and get crowded/fill out over the summer, I'll remove some as they get over crowded, or if they get pests etc. Barb, with succies that are not overly sensitive, so common ones, plentiful propagators etc. I can just move them around like a florist would use cut flowers...replanting in an arrangement at will. I'd only do this a few times a year, otherwise it could weaken the plants. I'd use a trowel to pull them out in a good rootball and put the bigger ones in first, then tuck in smaller ones to fill. (For more rare or special plants I'd never put them in a grouping). In photo#2 the large dark purple echeveria at top is violacina. The pink E. at 3 oclock is Afterglow. The big pink trailing jellybeans is pachyphytum oviferum. It's great for containers as an edge trailer. Here's another shot if in in a single pot, This pot is about 14 inches tall, wth a rbick under, soon to need another brick:-) since I am afrais I will break the long stems if I try to repot. repot.

Nancy, I laughed when I saw Tree Turtles had started since you and Maryl talked about it yesterday. There were actually two, but the rain and broken on bloom almost all the way off, so it just hung there. They were all wet, but most of them weren't too damaged. Had it raine longer or harder the second time, I wouldn't have gotten anything. WE were supposed to have more rain this afternoon, but it was over early apparently....However, rain is forecast the next several days, so we will see. I still have quite a few that haven't bloomed yet,,including both of the Whip city ones that have now scaped. I love seeing new ones. And if Celeste reads this, I got Dancing Cats and Desperate Housecats. to add to my cat thing. kay

I guess all the rain is good for the daylilies. Just think of all the extra fans they will be growing because of all the extra water. Everthing looks good.

There can never be too many pictures, we all know how your feel about the daylilies. I am always rambling about something daylily related on the forum here because at least all of you can understand and relate. That is more than I can say for any locals here, more than a general comment about the garden gets people bored to tears. Oh well.

Jean, Very nice pics! My favorite is Incendiary - it is so striking. Be careful out in that rain - don't slip and fall. I took a spill yesterday standing on a step ladder photographing some newly hatched baby birds. The sand was wet and it sunk about 4 inches under the ladder and off I went. Didn't hurt myself...just my pride.

Hi Jan;I do hope that sun did come out for you awhile.It hasn't showed its face here for days, only rain and more rain.The first SOP that bloomed didn't open up much,so didn't take a photo of it, but this 2nd one was so beautiful.I really love this DL.
Rita: You are sure right about locals being bored when you talk about your daylilies.I do have one neighbor here that comes over to comment about my roses and daylilies,and ask questions.She seems more interested in Clematis,and I gave her one I grew from seeds last week.I get a lot of comments from people just passing by about my yard is the prettest in town,which is not true,I have seen several yards that have a few flowers, but most of the folks around here has nothing but shrubs planted.Some thing that needs no care,while shrubs are nice,I prefer lots of flowers.
KATHY,I am so glad you didn't hurt yourself,falling off that ladder.I would not wish a broken bone on no one,as it is so painful.I was told my broken wrist would only hurt for a few days,then the pain would stop.Well,it hasn't stopped for more then a few minutes for 6 long weeks.Last night was the worst,I do believe.I took 2 of these high powered pain pills and they done nothing for it.Now pain is some thing I am use to, with my back & hip hurting daily,and my Dr says I have a high tolerance for pain,well,some thing is wrong some where,as my arm just don't let up.Supposely,I get this steel contracption off my arm this next Thursday,and they tell me therapy is painful, too.Hope I make it through all this,so I can injoy my DL's ...

Jean, you have really had some gorgeous daylilies this spring. The lavender color of Song of Praise is one of the best lavenders I have seen. Thank you for going out in the rain to get pictures for us. I enjoyed all of them, but especially Painter's Splash and Incendiary. Hope you feel better soon.

Well, I like the form and color on PS. I love the UF's, and Spiders. None of mine are blooming yet though. The rain didn't seem to hurt them much. Nice pix...Ellie

Thank You Ann, for the very nice comment.I have been so blessed to have friends here on this forum that sent me some very nice daylilies.If it wasn't for this forum and the caring people here,I wouldn't have had these daylilies growing in my garden to be able to go out and take pictures of them.I had only about 5 mini's and 8 or 10 regular daylilies.And I am on a fixed income,so couldn't afford to buy any unless they were under $ 5...Now,I really have problems now,since breaking my wrist.But,I am not getting into that.Its just amazing to me how medical stuff has sky rocketed over the years.When my son broke his little arm years ago when he was 2 yrs old,everything including hospital and Dr did not go over $ 100.A few hours in the hospital now is over 2,000 bucks,and Drs are extra.WOW, it about blows your m ind..ok,enough of this\\
