I really liked your slide show Sharon. I must admit to being a tad envious of all the space that you have to garden in - but I grew up on a farm, so I know how much work it all entails!

Here are some additions from my garden:

Astilbe Country and Western in front of Bressingham Beauty

Astilbe Fanal in front of Goatsbeard Zweiweltenkind

Geranium Rozanne

Rudbeckia Spotlight - started from seed.

Fushcia and Lamium combo from one of my pots

Fleurel Dahlia - started indoors

I will post a picture of my row of Champlain roses when it is back to full bloom. After we returned from holidays I aggressively deadheaded it - so now I have to wait a wee bit until the hundreds of other blooms open, and I don't think that I am exaggerating much on the number of buds on that row of bushes!

Again, wow, great bloomers everyone! Here's some surprises from this week around my gardens: African Daisy that I started from seed fairly late actually but it's blooming and it's as pretty as I'd hoped it would be! My DD#3 helped my plant these seeds and therefore they are now "MY kitty-cat flowers" according to her! LOL This little Calendula is totally tucked away in the huge display of Shasta Daisies. I only noticed him yesterday when I was out there weeding! Ahhh I can't wait to see this Cosmos in bloom! I had no idea the Amaranthus 'Velvet Curtains' would reseed! I didn't plant any here this year but I did last year! LOL Gotta love these types of surprises! 8~)

Carolyn - Thanks for sharing your beautiful hollyhocks. Sharon - I have the Nightshade written down as Solanum dulcamara. I got it at the Calgary Hort plant swap a couple of years ago from the table classified as 'invasive'. Doris - Thankfully we didn't get the hail this time. The storm that hit Calgary didn't get this far east but I was watching the dark clouds and saying a few prayers. I hope all was fine in your garden as well. 'Doris' is definitely one beauty of a peony - thanks again :-) Any good plant combos that have happened in my garden this year are just dumb luck. I was just so overwhelmed last year trying to get all my trades, gifts, purchases and wintersowing in the ground that I feel like my entire garden is one big holding bed. There are lots of things to be moved this fall. For example, I wintersowed Nepeta parnassica that I got in a trade with a gal in the UK. It is over 5 feet tall and I fight with it everyday as it planted along the edge of a path : / Susan

Incredible pics everyone! Laurie, I hear ya... where DID the time go? I keep feeling like I'm missing things in the gardens this year -- one minute I look and a plant is just starting to bud out and next thing it's alreaady gone to seed! And yup, this week things are getting a beating from night-time the rains... but the rain is a good thing so I won't complain! Anyways here's a few new (or maybe just new pics?) of my garden this week: Balloon Flower mingling with the Daisies. African Daisies resting on the sidewalk. Delphinium that I started from seed about 2-3 years ago and it's showing it's colours now! I love that shade of purpley-blue (hmmm... purpley? is that a word?? LOL) I am loving this Sunflower! Not too sure which one it is b/c it came in a mixed seed package. Funny thing is none of my SF are any taller then maybe 2'-3' this year!? WHAT is going on?! LOL OK, my DD freaked out at this and I'm NOT trying to freak anyone else out either... but I think he's kinda cute actually. I'm gonna go see if I can ID him now. Anyone know though? Ang

Laurie, You do have some wonderful lilies there! As the previous owners may have purchased from the Manitoba Regional Lily Society's lily sale each fall, most of the lilies in your yard might just be in the Lily Nook catalogue. I am thinking that your.... #1 might be Pink Pixie. Is it a short one? Here is mine with new flowers and in the sun... I'm sure that #2 is Granny not Corrida. (Sorry, Gil). Corrida has no spots in the center of the flower. Granny has a light sprinkling of them. The older the flower, the more faded it gets. Granny is a TA. The Lily Nook's # is TA1017. #4...might be Cameleon? here's mine... or is it Gironde...here is the Lily Nook link.... http://www.lilynook.mb.ca/images/Asiatics/Gironde.jpg #6 looks similar to Milano, but your spots might be too large. http://www.lilynook.mb.ca/images/Asiatics/Milano.jpg Your #10...the one right after Lollipop, is it fairly short? I don't have much that doesn't fall into one of the categories, but can someone tell me if this is a Rudbeckia? I wintersowed it last year and forgot.
