Hot Sunday bloomers, part II

Starting part II with Pandora's Treasure, isn't it a beauty! I love it, and more because I lost my cat last year named Pandora.

Francois Verhaert, I need to move this one. It is being smothered by larger daylilies all around it, could barely see the bloom peeking out.

Got this one years ago as Raspberry Pixie. It is tall, & the flowers are kind of sprinkled looking. A few years ago someone else accidentally sent me what they later identified as Raspberry Pixie, the flower looked right but still much taller than RP is supposed to be. Actually they are both very similar, just different looking flowers. This one blooms a lot, you can't tell from the angle of the photo but the blooms are high above the foliage, looks quite cute.

Exotic Treasure

My only rose, it is a miniature. I think that is why the Japanese Beetles haven't found it, but it doesn't bloom a lot. This flower is past its prime I'm afraid

One of my seedlings, I've shown before. I counted the buds on its 2 scapes, 1 has 22 & the other 18. That is pretty good for my garden. I wish it weren't quite so tall, but I just need to move it from the edge of the bed.

Lovely lilies and seedlings. PANDORA'S TREASURE is my favorite of this batch but the others are all lovelies also. The daylily next to Tuscawilla Blackout looks like Stumbling Stone to me.

That is it Rita! It had a bloom a couple of days ago that was brighter than this one but I should have recognized it. Thanks!

I'm thinking on bringing an autumnish aduki bean, winter squash and kombu soup. This is good hot or cold, since our weather won't exactly be autumnish Sunday, cold may be the better choice. If possible I'll throw together a loaf of homemade butter bread. I'll be short on plants I'm bringing this time, due to !x**?Xz vertigo-motion disturbance */x^x**! stuff since mid-summer that's just recently been mending. ihope. But I will bring two or three staghorn pups. I promised someone a pup, don't remember who, I think Veronika. I'm also bringing some little saplings (?) of an unknown small tree that is delightful and a butterfly favorite. Plus some (to me) exotic vegetable seeds; a seedling pink Pride of Barbados for Ricky, and Pride of Barbados seeds. I'm looking forward to a great visit with great gardeners; and the pleasure of Ricky's gardens. and oyes...all that great sounding food. -Arabesque

Nat, Man Of Sorrows is a good one in my garden. Multiplies well. It is in the second tier (which is the main biggest one) of my terraces garden. I was just looking at it today thinking I might move it front and center to the first tier of the terraces after bloom season. It really is a very lovely daylily.

Julia - None of those Florida lates are really late for me. They seem to be more midseason bloomers. But English Lavender does have instant rebloom scapes coming, so it will be blooming late because of that. I can't really tell what's what this time. The earlies were two to three weeks late and some of midseason bloomers seem to be on their regular schedule. And I have both earlies and mids that are going to be very, very late - first blooms in July. It's a crazy mixed-up season. Debra

Rita, I live in Northeast Texas in the country, so our temps are usually fairly moderate, even in the summer, but not this year. We will probably not water some of the day lilies--the ones we don't really care for, because we are afraid our water well might run out. It's a big problem and may cause us to have a new well dug next year. I don't mind losing plants I don't like, but we are going to lose others, too, if we don't get some rain soon. There appears to be little chance of that. Next year we may be starting all over again, so I'll be looking for daylilies that can take the heat. I love all your bright colored ones, but they will probably burn out here, as we can't provide much in the way of shade. Never mind, just keep posting so I can appreciate vicariously yours, and everyone else's beautiful, bright flowers. Avedon

Pandora is lovely and has a beautiful as does your second seedling. They are all pretty and the lillies are lovely. Your first seedling is my favorite of these.

Your seedling is my favorite. How tall is it? The trend among new intros leans toward taller daylilies now. How exciting that it has good bud count as well as a pretty face!

Nice blooms I like the eyed daylilies, so Exotic Treasure and Pandora's Treasure are my favorites here.

Thanks for your kind remarks everyone! funny how the Treasures & Francois Verhaert all bloomed the same day, & have sort of the same look. I really like them, not sure just which one I like best. Probably Pandora's Treasure just because of the name :)
I haven't really measured the seedling Debra, at least 40" & I think taller.
Val, I just grow for my own pleasure so I don't track exact crosses, just try for pod parent. Can't keep up with tags well either, but the closest tag says from Wisest of Wizards & that seems likely.
