Taking a risk with Mexican evening primrose

This very pretty flower is a famous thug. Once introduced it can take over a garden despite best efforts to control or remove it. However I am thinking of planting it in an isolated raised bed. I'm hoping that its hardiness, drought tolerance, and (hopeful) deer resistance will make it the ideal plant to use to underplant my western redbud out in the driveway beyond the fence and away from the irrigation.

I'm hesitating just a bit because while I know it spreads like wildfire underground, a path that doesn't exist here, I don't know if it also spreads by seed. The nearest reseeding opportunity is about 4 feet away. Does anyone know if it can travel that far in the air?
