I have 4 Clematis coming from Silver Star

I have 6 Fox gloves and 4 Biltmore Hollyhocks coming from QVC

I have Three daylily orders from LA last fall. Two are in the mail.

I have an American Meadows order. foxgloves and lobelia.

I have a High Country Gardens Order. On its way. Agastache and asclepcias.

I have Peonies ordered for fall

I have tulips and daffodils ordered for fall (B&B) and Brecks.

Garden Gate has sent the Red Hot Poker and agastache ordered.

should be here tomorrow.

I have something coming from Van Bourgondien.

I have a big umbrella coming from Overstock (garden in movable shade?)

I am beyound help.

Oh kay, you are going to outdo me this year. Although I did order more daylilies than I had room for. One of the reasons for a big gardenbed being done in the backyard. I do not think any have shipped yet. The one from Melanie Mason should be my forst for this spring.

I too have ordered Agastache from High Country Gardens, which you already know. I ordered lots of Sedum this spring, two orders of it came, one is one its way. My lily bulbs are here and I have started planting. My Dahlia tubers from Swan Island Dahlias have not shipped yet. None of my Siberian Iris that I ordered shipped yet this spring and I didn't even bother to count how many I ordered. Only thinking about the TB iris, haven't ordered yet. I ordered something from VB wholsale too, Glamini Glads.

I bought three boxed roses locally and have long ago planted them already. I too already ordered fall bulbs from Brent and Beckies and plan to order more from Van Engelen for fall. I also bought and planted canna and four o'clock tubers already. Have 10 small Geum plants coming Beginning of May.

I bought lots and lots of seeds this year. Including Poppy and California Poppy Seeds. Going to try something new for me.

Than again who knows what I will find in the local nurseries once all the annuals set out. I buy many each and every year.

I still think you have more coming than I do.

Yeah, but look at all the lilys you ordered and have gotten.

I am looking at sedum, but I haven't ordered any yet.

The new iris bed is coming along well. Of course, it is for use in rotating iris in the two bed I have. I have decided I need a new cottage garden bed across from the redone daylily bed in back.

I am working so much extra it is crimping my style. One of the other house supes broke a leg, so I may be working extra in May too. Ah well.

These types of articles are so irritating. They make people who enjoy caring for their lawn look ridiculous. Sure it takes effort and resources to have a beautiful lawn - but so what? Leave it to the individual to use their time and money responsibly. And if someone chooses to have a mediocre lawn, let them be. In fact, it is too bad that people think they MUST have a lawn. There are other options (flowers, vegetables, trees, mulch, brick, stone, shrubs, etc.). Cultivating a stand of grass is a wonderful challenge. And at the same time equally rewarding (beautifies the property, creates a place to socialize/play, good exercise, etc.). The real criminal in lawn care are those who have not taken the time to learn how to properly water, mow, fertilize, use pesticides etc. They are mislead by advertising and the retail stores that having a nice lawn is easy, and simply a matter of buying their product. They are the ones who are (often unknowingly) wasting water and polluting the ground. So my hobby is my lawn and gardens. Your hobby is motorcycles, movies, shopping, golfing, hunting, music, collecting, etc. Any of them can be an obsession and harmful in some way. But all can be beneficial and productive as well. The popularity of lawns, big-business, and the unnecessary snobbyness associated with nice lawns makes it an easy target for articles like these. I used to almost feel uncomfortable outside working on my lawn because of this attitude people have about nice lawns. But I realized that most people don't hate nice lawns, they hate THEIR lawn because it is not perfect and that carries a social stigma (kind of like not having nice clothes, an imperfect body, a dumpy car or growing old is looked down upon). But stigma is not what drives me to have nice grass - and since I've learned to stop frowning on people who don't have nice grass, I'm perfectly fine with working on my lawn!

Many years I would carefully refold the bags and try to return them from the houses I picked up the bags of leaves from. Unfortunately, I found most of those people did not know much about recycle and reuse. I did find some people that were interested in getting bags to put leaves in for free, rather then spending their hard earned money on them, but few and far between. After that I started using those bags under my mulches.

Well, I called my vet when this started, and he suggested that I show Hershey that the cat is no longer in the basement. Beyond that, he didn't really have any suggestions :( I hope Hershey is getting enough exercise - he is very tired after we run, but that's only once a day. He likes the walks around the block, but they're just for training and fun, not really for exercise. He seems pretty calm outside the basement, more calm than I expected for a young dog. I think you could be right about him being bored, except that I still think it's odd that sometimes when we are outside, he heads to the door and wants to go inside, then runs straight to the basement. I don't think there are critters down there (except for spiders) - haven't seen/heard any evidence of that. I think the obedience training is a good idea - he really does not seem himself in the basement; won't come when I call, or stop barking (elsewhere he is getting good at both things). He does not seem to have much retrieving instinct (I know, odd for a lab) but more interaction/playtime couldn't hurt! My son was hoping to teach him to play frisbee, but so far we have mostly been concentrating on teaching him to come, walk nicely on a leash, not jump up, etc. I am missing our old dog, who was 5 when we got her and SO easy!

Jackmanii is a great one to start with. My mom (a total nongardener) had one put in by a landscaper, and with her total neglect in clay soil it grew and bloomed every year until she sold the house. If I was visiting during the cold season, I would prune it for her and give it some mulch, but otherwise it was on its own. Great plant! The summer blooming plants are the easiest to my mind. The few clematis I've found to have issues have been the early large-flowered, though some have been trouble-free such as HF Young, Rebecca, and Piilu. One of my favorite summer bloomers is Mikelite, which starts blooming (just a few flowers) from a two year old quart plant in its first year in my garden. It blooms a long time; I have photos of it blooming from mid-June to mid-August, though it is most full from late June to late July. Here it is July 20, just over a month after it started blooming, and this is its second year in my garden. To get a large plant, it will be more expensive . . . I have also found around here that sources such as big box stores and other non-nurseries are more likely to only have type 2 prune plants, the early large-flowered varieties, since they are blooming when many folks are looking for some color to plant. I've found plants in big box stores are more likely to be mislabeled or unlabeled. I have looked, but here they aren't less expensive than the few I've found in nurseries, but I live in an area with not a lot of choices.

Yes, I started on planting the lily bulbs today. But I can't seem to do just one thing. I was moving some daylies (four plants) and cleaning my ponds earlier today.

I also forgot to list the Milkweeds I have coming for the butterflies. Earlier I was looking at all the daylily plants at the driveway side slope and thinking that was one of my better ideas. Last August in the high 90 degree weather with our high humidity, I was planting and I wasn't sure it was such a fantastic idea after at LOL!

Seems like we both have lots of projects this spring.

We do have many of the same types of plants. Although you do not have Siberian Iris and I only am starting on Dutch Iris now. I di have lots and lots of shrubs. Azealeas, Viburnums, Blueberries and the list goes on and on.

We both like to have a lot of diferent plants blooming. And that is good. I know I am always trying out different things, and you do also,

I love to help other people spend their money on garden plants LOL!!!

Be sure and post pictures later in the year when lots of your new plants are blooming.

I think you will really like the Agastaches. I know that I just love mine. Last year after I had new front steps and walkway done, I immediately knew I would get more Hummingbird Mints (Agastaches) from High Country Gardens this spring to plant by the side of the new steps in front.
