Purple Dreams in my garden...one pic ( and slideshow)

I "rescued" this metal table and chairs. It has taken several days and a lot of work to undue the ravages of time . All my pots are coming along and when I saw all the purple I just had to add one more accent . See what you think...here is one pic and a slide show to make it easier to view.

WOW ! Great job on refinishing the table and chairs ! You did a ton of work to get them looking so good. All the potted plants look so lush and "springy" too- now you can sit down in your purple chair and take a well-deserved break, and admire all your handiwork :) I am going to pot up a combo tonight of the following pink/purple plants (from tall/back to front):
1 dark purple Heliotrope (tall), 1 (medium) pink Gerbera daisy, 1 (medium)dark pink/white streaked Dahlia with yellow eye, and for cascading effects one dark purple million bells minipetunia with yellow eye and a Diamond Frost filler (white flowers). We'll see how it all turns out...

Carolyn, Carolyn, Carolyn! You never cease to amaze me! What a beautiful set you now have. And what an eye for hidden beauty you have!

Threedogsmom, your planned combo sounds delightful. I found myself visualizing it as you named each plant. I love those Diamond Frost. Hmmmm...maybe I'll quit pulling weeds--yuck--and make a little trip to the plant nursery.

I just looked and have 3 seeds left for the Devils Toothpick. If I remember right the crickets are still belching and farting from eating the plants that were outside. In the next week or so I'm hoping to get out and inventory the plants and get rid of the extras/doubles and see what I have growing then I can put the rest out. I've got almost all of my summer crop out there but I'm running out of room. Too many Manzanos are getting too big. The peppers are really liking the soil mix I'm using. If it still is ok when the 100 degree weeks start I'll have found the perfect mix for the way I grow my peppers. Only lost a dozen plants during the winter so I started out 150 or so plants ahead this year. Everything is looking like if I can keep the bugs at bay I'll have one of the better harvests I've had in a long time. Lots of buds and pods out there now. Re potted my Habanero tree(arbol)and it's as tall as the eves of the roof and filled with new branches.It's already 6+ ft. wide and 7-8ft. high.I'll need a ladder to pick pods again this year. I've got 3 more of them that want to do the same.Gotta find a home for 2 of them if I can. I wanted to mail them to people but it's too expensive. E mail me about what you have to trade and or what you are looking for. I'm up to 820 something varieties but don't have seeds for all of them to trade etc. If i can glue a few buds on each of my plants shut before they open I'll have a lot of seeds in mid summer and fall. I've got some rare stuff out there and if I can get the plants to put out the pods I'll be set up with seeds to spread around soon from the pods I have now. The Baccatums and Pubescens are really going off now.The Annuums are starting to bud too.

Wow Caroline did you make me nostalgic! No one 'round here has rhododendrons / azaleas and I confess to not having thought about it until looking at your dreamy pictures .... When we lived in the Himalayas there were rhododendron forests, and it almost hurt to look at them they were so beautiful. When we moved to the States (San Francisco) we planted an azalea / hydrangea mini-grove underneath one part of our Japanese maple grove ... and I was in heaven. Where we live now no Japanese maples, no azaleas, but last autumn my three year-old "gardening assistant" (aka my eldest son) and I did go crazy planting bulbs (tulip, hyacinth, narcissus, crocus, iris ...) which we couldn't do with much (if any) success in SF. I just loved your pictures!

Glad you have enjoyed them - I had a good time rediscovering them all over again as I flipped through so quickly. I'm going to see if DH or my MIL can take the kids away for a few hrs. so that I can enjoy them over a cup of tea in peace & quiet & plan some more. I think that I really noticed some recurring theme's in what I like - especially color wise w/ all of the green, purple, pink combo's. In fact the page that says Floral Essences w/ a pic of the lady in the green dress is about to help me round out my color palette for downstairs! Her green dress is similar to my LR wall color. Her basket: close to the shade of brown that I've chosen for the top 1/3 of my kitchen walls. The brick wall: My house is brick I was trying to pick a red for my DR but the consensus on the forum is that the deep reds I liked were too dark for my dark trim BUT when I saw that pic I thought "Why not a color similar to the flowers in her basket?"! The whole pic flows so I know it would look good in my house as I already have so many colors in the layout. Color inspiration can be found where you least expect it! And it looks romantic but still earthy. As for my organization: That's a long way coming but thanks! I just used a 3 hole punch one weekend & just shoved my tear outs into 2 binders that I found laying around. I slipped a piece of blank white paper between each article to separate them. I still have tons to add. Soon I will begin looking for some decadent binders to organize them in. A few for decorating, gardening & entertaining. Right now they're all mixed together w/ no rhyme or reason. I need to add the little white thingies to the holes to reinforce them & I've learned that if I break the binding of the magazine I can easily pull out an entire article out w/o having to use scissors to score the pages & risk an uneven tear.

HI everyone, Thanks for the responses. I'm going to bug all of you to help with my bathrooms too! The builder finished foundation today so onto framing!!! I'll be making final selections over the next 2-4 weeks!! kawfeeaddict: Do you know the name of the white granite you used? Can you share a photo? Look at my photobucket inspiration pic and you can see the irridescent tile backsplash...its different but really cool! erikanh, thanks for the thread link. I've look at it several times but some of the pics don't show anymore. I research a bunch of the granites online today and i'm interested in seeing some slabs in person rmkitchen. I'm going to search for my twin! I'm excited if I can find her b/c I'm needing some source info from that inspiration picture and hoping she might have it!! And YOUR kitchen....well i've printed out MULTIPLE photos from your kitchen last week. I LOOOOOOVE it! I even told my designer in the last meeting how I wanted to "frame" and paint a chalkboard area on the side of my fridge. Then I found your picture and I emailed it to my designer! I would love to do the inset cabinets like yours.....so cool. Also love the raised DW. Oh, the marble countertops are just so beautiful....I just can't do it. But its so fun to find someone who really has the same "style".....please share any other parts of you home as I'm building this house so its all a "clean slate". My basic approach to my home is I'm a southern girl and love southern, comfortable things. I live inland but the beach colors, textures, clean, crisp, cottage feel is what I'm going to try to incorporate in my home in a classic but fresh way. Did that make any sense? You guys are so sweet !! THANK YOU...if was a lot of work and my hands may never be the same :( but I was just out there and drinking lemonade and enjoying it and it is definitely worth it.

3dogs we don't have any of those plants/colors here anywhere. I didn't see any of them...last year there were million bells but not this year and I have never seen heliotrope...so you just gotta post so I can see LOL !

FRIEND !! Where have you been ?? Are you running...how is that baby ??? How is your garden??? Please do send pics and send me a note...I have missed hearing from you. I love my bricks too...I still have a big pile of them...I need ideas for them in the garden. Caroline

sorry life is sooo NUTS with a 2 yr old. can you believe he is 2? send me an email and i'll send you some pics

i haev an idea for yuor bricks but it involves bringing them here. haha

YES still runnign and finally concentrating on getting off this baby weight. did a LOT of trail running this fall.was in luv with it again. winter came and then it's not so good for that. but i started training fro my second marathon- it's in June. in ALASKA!!! ( what can i say- i can do nothign small- i jsut gotta go all or nothing.)
so i have 14 miles this weekend. lost 13 pounds. 17 more to go. and on WW to help speed it along. haha

i've missed ALLLL of you... workign FT and raising baby when hubby & i are on diff schedules is just nuts. i JUST logged on today... Ugh

Caroline -- I LOVE the purple table and chairs! Perfect purple! Your strawberry pots look so great -- along with all of your plants. Looks like you are a few weeks ahead of us.

Great color! I love dark purple and used to have 2 purple chairs until they rotted. Yours is fantastic - super job

Thank you Cameron! We are still having 40's at night...I am usually in the pool by April 15th but not this year. Way too COOL>

Thank you Natalie...I was thinking the same thing that it is a royal color. Amazing how all colors go with purple. I am thinking it is a "neutral" since it goes with everything. I am going to use it more. c

You know I'm going to love it, don't you Trailrunner?!! This is just beautiful! I have my iron furniture waiting the the 'wings' for the day we have a patio and an area to set it down!! And FOR SURE I think it will be ... Purple!!

Oh, my goodness - I love it! The purple really pops in a couple of those photos! And I do agree - purple does work well as a neutral in a garden (at least, it better, considering how much of it I have!).

Love the colors together! A lot of work went into those chairs! They look wonderful! The little patio nook is simply perfect surrounded by the potted flowers.

Super job! I love the pattern on the chairs and the color purple is just perfect. I need to start thinking out of the box!

I have a really old metal glider that is in good shape. Maybe the 'color purple' is in its future.

I am thinking a few hesperis matronalis scattered here and there would be perfect and they smell good too!

Is that purple ajuga I see in your slideshow?! I have forgotten about this plant and it is GORGEOUS! What a talent you have. I can only imagine having such a gorgeous yard. (As you can see from my recent post!) I love the inspiration you provide!

Ginger that is ajuga. Chocolate chip. It REALLY took off this year. I am glad I planted it . I don't know about talent LOL...lots of luck !!

Flower..thank you !! It is lovely. I have been out there all day planting and sweeping ...just enjoying.

gldno: there is a glider and 2 chairs...I don't have a place for them...please do yours and post pics !!
