It's ready to go..I basically cut down my packages so all the info is listed..and the seeds are there. It's on it's way..hope everyone has fun!

You know MMQCHDYGG, I think it boils down to how much time do you want to spend fretting over them once they sprout. Sure you can sow the tender stuff earlier if you'd like, but if you have a warm spell, and they get fooled into germinating way before the last frost date, then your choices are: 1) Accept some sprout loss, and be ready to resow 2) Drag the containers into an unheated garage or other similar location, every time a hard frost is predicted 3) Cover the containers with a blanket or an upside bin to offer extra protection from the cold, every time a hard frost is predicted. Or you can be patient and wait until closer to your last frost date, and save yourself a lot of aggravation. Just my take on it, Bonnie : )

OK everyone, The packages are all going out in tomorrow's mail. Some people were kind enough to send TONS of seeds and weren't asking for a 1 for 1 in return, although I think for everyone you got more than you sent, as I too, had tons I wanted to exchange, so for some of you, your rtn envelope is bigger than the one you sent so don't be too surprised! I hope that I was able to accomodate everyone and hope that everyone got at least something off their wish list or if not available, a really nice surprise seed. Lois, no worries about going out in the snow. My lazy butt could def use the exercise. LOL. Sherry, I'm probably going to do another RR later in the spring or again in the fall after everyone's collected from summer. Let me know when your pkg arrives...just so I know everyone got everything safely. ps. for anyone that I did a side trade with that's on this RR, I'm 99.9% sure your seperate trade stuff is all in there but if I missed something, PLEASE, let me know and I'll pop it in the mail. I have ordered several fig trees from Mr. Robin over the last couple of years. While talking to Mr. Robin on the phone he asked me if there are any Chinkapin trees in my area. If so he would like some seeds from the tree. I asked around and found out that all the Chinkapin trees in my area have died out. I asked my dad who lives in South Jersey if he knew of any Chinkapin trees in his area. Dad said that there was one in a small park in our home town. When I visited my parents I picked up some seeds from that tree and sent them to Mr. Robin. I did not put them in a box, but in a large envelope. By the time Mr. Robin got them the post office had smashed them to powder. The next time I went to South Jersey to get some more seeds, much to my dismay the tree had been cut down. If anyone knows where they can get some seeds from a Chinkapin tree would you send them to Mr. Robin. Just come, meet other gardeners, bring your food to share and just have fun. 2009 SPRING PLANT SWAP ~:~ this swap is for perennials only ~:~ (it is not for annuals, herbs or house plants) Date: 30 May, 2009 Time: 10:00AM Place: Wayland City Park Park Street & W. Cherry Street Wayland MI 49348 Bring your extra plants and join in the fun! Swap Materials: perennial plants, shrubs, well-rooted cuttings and divisions (potted up) and bulbs. We swap plants that are well established, of good size (size you would be happy to buy at the store on sale), and in pots that are approx 6 inches across x 6.5 inches tall - or larger). Bring along photos of your plants if you can. Please mark if they are invasive or not ... mini blinds cut up and written on with #2 pencil make great tags. Mark all plant materials with the plant name and care required. Put your email address on back of tag. It was mailed Thursday evening so hopefully you'll get it tomorrow. I did have another bubble envelope sent to me from Ontario and it took one whole week: Monday->Monday. Don't know what the problem was.

Wow, this is fun. I've picked my lot and added some more. I included a few extras of the yellow wild scottish poppy seed that I hand collected - in case anyone is interested.

Hi all,

Quick update, Robin hasn't arrived yet. I guess if it was mailed on Friday, that's not surprising, seeing as how it's only Monday - but I figured I'd nudge the thread anyhow. I remember someone telling me that in Britain, the post is delivered twice a day, plus once on Saturdays! Wouldn't that be nice!

Oh well, will let you know as soon as it's on it's way!

Well, now the post is delivered once a day, including Sat. morning. Cost savings now.
I honestly found the postal service in the UK superior to Canada but then again, it's a much smaller country!

I'm happy to report that the robin arrived today! It's already repackaged, restamped, and I will drop it at the post office on the way in to work in the AM!

There were all sorts of robins in my yard today but none of them were carrying an envelope with seeds in it. LOL. That's okay, with this snow they have forecasted for the next few days I thought I'd organize what seeds I have left and what I could still plant this year...then get my containers ready and plant away...

The little robin was here but just for a short stay as he decided that he had to fly away. Off he goes to Acton, bye bye little birdie, have a nice trip...hope to see ya again next year!

I keep watching the activity on our Robin and meaning to say thank you for a very well organized event! There's something special about getting a real piece of mail that email can't compare to! Especially when there are seeds involved.
