A challenge!

Ok everyone, up to a challenge? Out of all your dls, which "one" is your favorite and why. I have 115 different dls and i found it hard, i can't imagine having more then that and having only one favorite. For me i would have to say beautiful edging, i love the pink edging and boy does she bloom! All though i do love witch stitcherys yellow with the purple watermarks, that is another one that keeps blooming for me, then again sabine baur is beautiful, then theres smokey mountain autumn, thats one glows,ohhhh then theres indian giver, love the dark purple with the white edge, blooms well and lots! See i can't even do it! good luck all!

Well I'm new to the wonderful world of daylily's and all I do have so far are Stella's, but I've ordered quite a few this year, and I'm waiting on delivery. I've totally fallen in love with the many pictures I've found both online and in different catalogs and read this site daily. I do have some seedlings popping up under lights from the seeds George offered and all are doing well so far. Next year hopefully I'll be better to answer this question, :)

Hopefully a few basic structure notes and recommendations can give you a foundation to build, create, and explore. Or save for a rainy day! and today? Sorry for typos! on phone! and… Print Me ❤️ Make a Basic Inspiration Symbol Add architectural, large structural elements, and color palette to create a basic working symbol. Most noticeable to me are: Architectural elements such as half vault ceiling, crown molding, wooden plank wall, gallery floor plan (emphasis on flow, not focal points) elegant window length, multi-tone wood flooring, natural light, spot and hanging lights. Classic styles! Structural elements are in Primary shapes Motif! This includes furniture shapes such as rectangle, circle, and triangle (ceiling). Have much more faith in yourself! the furniture shapes you put together are CORRECT! Color Palette here is a wow, Again, spot on! Your color temperature is a warm yellow base in turquoise (oh dear lol!, in love with this!!!) kitchen, warm toned floors and walls. Combine all and i arrive at a speckled near- robin’s egg symbol, but perhaps a water drop shape as well! Natural and classic. I agree that a vinyl is your best option for the kitchen area. Actually, the vinyl goods in the kitchen don’t look that bad; I like the light neutral. And carpeting in the den is a good option, too. A flat weave, commercial grade, in a beige. While your entrance flooring is real slate, and your halls, etc. are wood…what you have are functional surfaces for a rental. I would stick with them. And I would lean into beige vs. gray tones, including creamy walls.

Just another note - Those look like tall cabinets to the ceiling - is there a plan for some kind of trim there? How long is that peninsula? If he will eat at it alot with friends, then you will want more than 24" per person. So anything that is on the wall should be about 12" away from the edge of the overhang for seating comfort - no one wants a shelf in their face. With out knowing the context of the space, I would try to make the seating a little more social - one on the end and 2 on the peninsula. The plan shows the wall perfectly lining up so the ref doors can swing freely - make 100% sure that is true in real life. The light blue is pretty but is that your son's selection? Or is that some sort of design element to have the home feel 1950's? It is hard to help with colors without seeing pictures of the space and style of the home. Congrats to him on his first home! @wsea - no, the steps on the upper flight will not be floating... the actual framing is shown. If needed, the wall can be penetrated for a wire and be fire-sealed with a surface mount light, but I do not want to cut an outlet box into that drywall, if that makes sense. @wdccruise - I appreciate the thoughts, and think you may not be understanding the challenges. Gimbaling light was the plan, but tested, there is tremendous glare for hall-passers-by due to the elevation of the light. If pointed back towards the recess from the edge of the stairs, then the person walking down the stairs is blinded. @The Kitchen Abode Ltd. - Thanks for the recommendation. I looked briefly at their site, and think I ran across them when looking at lighting art previously. Are you referring to one of their light 'projectors', or a different product line? @Paul F. - Thanks for your good understanding the request. Yes, I may have a misconception, though with the sample tests I had with a WAC lotus downlight, having lights placed just a few feed above the objects (back of the area next to the stairs), it was definitely a narrower spread and hotter near the center. Do you think that will change with a different fixture? Separation heights from 'ceiling' to step are 6'-3", 4'-3", and 2' (and that does not account for height of any decorations placed there). I have some other Nora fixtures, and good to hear about the different lens options which may help. I'll checkout your recommendation - thank you.

One fav, wow, that would be impossible for me to pick, favorite is usually whatever is in bloom at the time. Last summer was a rough year in my garden, & most all of my daylilies are still very young & haven't formed a good clump yet. But my favorite last summer was Elizabeth's Magic, it seemed to bloom forever. While it wasn't a big clump, it seemed like there was always a bloom in it. Last year wasn't a good one for Beautiful edgings, but it did great the year before with only a single fan.
last summer was the 1st year for El Desperado, beautiful while it bloomed but it didn't bloom long. We had a terrible drought though & few of my daylilies bloomed well. Smokey Mt Autumn was a new one, I'm looking forward to seeing it bloom this year, I've heard so many good things about it. Lots of my daylilies will bloom the 1st time this year, I can't wait!

My favorite last year was Pardon Me. The deep red was solid and beautiful, and it bloomed for weeks.

My next favorites were gentle shepard and imperial Lemon. The clean white, and bright yellow stood out from everything else in my garden.

No matter how many I buy and add to my collections, Indian Giver still remains my favorite. My clump continues to grow and increase every year, and I'm planning on putting it in more than one place so that I can enjoy it all over the yard!

No way....no how...never could I pick just one!!! Each morning of bloom season is like Christmas morning around here. I have about 1000 reg. cv's and hundreds of seedlings, and during bloom season, I rush out of the house each morning to see which ones have opened today! Like ngraham above, my fav is usually which ever one is blooming at the time!

SPIDER MIRACLE always....... its always HUGE prolific bloomer here in my yard, consistant flower shape, sun or shade, excellent increase, and you can see it from a good 50 yards away, and know exactly who it is.

Lol, you must admit, it is kind of fun. Its impossible to pick just one. I know what you mean about being christmas, i drive my husband crazy with new buds. Im soooooooo impatient! He will never admit it ,but he is as bad as me! He has woke me up before to tell me i have a new bloom!

I'm with Lrae and Jan...impossible to pick just one. Just wait until bloom season gets going...Jan, you probably will be one of the first ones (we count on you!)...for the pictures to start. Then, it's impossible to even pick your favorite 100! And, let's not even mention the thrill of seeing seedlings bloom!

Well, I just started growing daylilies last year, so I don't have many, and only seven made it into the ground early enough to bloom last year. But of those, Indian Giver was definitely my favorite. I bought it from a local nursery, and even in the pot, it bloomed and bloomed and bloomed. I even got rebloom after I got it into the ground.

I like Spider Miracle there! I received SM in a trade a couple of years ago & it came up nicely last spring. It didn't like our drought too well & almost died before I realized it. I dug it up & tried moving it, but I noticed last fall there was no sign of it. This spring I started to pull a bit of johnson grass & saw a tag next to it, so decided to leave it-just in case it wasn't a weed. Good thing I did, there is my SM. Not looking good, but if we have a better summer than we did last year, maybe it will pull back.

I'm with Jan -- there's no way I could pick one, but I think I could give you my top 50 or so.

Summer is the only time I jump out of bed early in the morning, just to see what new beauties have bloomed.

A challenge is right. Okay, I'm going to go non Munson, blasphemy I know, non spider/UF which is almost as bad. Best I can call it is a UF wannabe. In it's favor is that it's huge AND purple LOL!
