Well, mark it on the calendar, I've FOUND a CF that I actually LIKE! Yup, yup, this one landed on the wish-list!

Take her to the vet and have her checked for "walking dandruff" or Cheyletiellosis. It often shows up clearly in younger animals as dandruff you can see. Adults seem to be able to handle it better but just because you can't see it, it doesn't mean they don't have it. Depending on how many animals you have, it can be expensive to treat. A dog that we shipped out for breeding brought it back to my co-breeder's house and it was well over a thousand bucks to treat everyone at my house and at two other houses (dogs often go visiting between houses). Luckily, the treatment was easy to apply, just expensive. Oh, by the way, you need to treat not only the cats, but also the dogs and in my case, rabbits as well. (PS. As a responsible breeder, I called the owners of my puppies to let them know of the issue. They all had the puppies checked at the vet and luckily, none of them had them. There was a good chance that my dogs never did pick it up, however, better safe than sorry as it is very difficult to diagnose in adult dogs from what my vet told me. As a follow up to the other thread, are you willing to do the same?)

Hey you!!!! I've made this several times and it's really good. I let the filling cool a bit before placing on the phyllo but don't refrigerate the assembled product before baking for fear the phyllo would overcooked before the filling heated through. When I make it the phyllo is basically just wrapped around the filling, the phyllo isn't "all through" it like a jelly roll cake would be. It is pretty, I know what you mean about not really liking chicken fat. I'm not partial to it either. I like a more delicate ruffle. It is funny though how different looks grow on ya. I', starting to see some I actually like.

I personally love the look. If someone can point me to a flower with very heavy ruffling AND decent branching and budding, I will be interested. I'm sure they are out there, but what are they?

No matter how fantastic a flower face is to me, it has no value unless it has many flowers blooming over at least two weeks. Please understand, I haven't purchased a new introduction for a couple of years, so perhaps this isn't a problem anymore.

I should have known that LSO is a Bell intro.....I love Tim Bell's daylilies, and that one is especially nice. Guess I'll just add one more to the "ever growing" wish list!!

Oh, how did I miss this first time around? Love Spills Over is just stunning.

I do not like lots of chicken fat on a daylily myself but this one I just would say has a very nice frilly edge. Usually I personally save using the chicken fat term for those with the really wide wide jagged edges.

Someone on the AHS e-mail robin suggested the term scrambled egg instead of checken fat for edges. This way they wouldn't even have to be overdone edges. Someone else suggested the term frou frou for nicely fancy daylilies.

So in that spirit, I would say that Love spills Over is a lovely example of frou frou scrambled egg edged.

Nikki, they are referring to daylilies with very ruffled edges. The pictures I've seen of the daylily Decadence seems to be a good example of "chicken fat" to me.

wow, these are just beautiful,I sure wouldn't be tacking such a ugly name on some that is this pretty.I would call it a heavely ruffled blooms.,Gorgeous blooms.

I wish I would never have heard the term 'chicken fat'. I think it has me negatively influenced about the DLs that are very ruffled in yellow. I might have a few among my many daylilies, but right now I cannot think of any. LSO is definitely one of the prettier one I have seen. Maybe I will change my mine like I did about spiders. I still do not like the bagel shape. I want mine to be big, open and voluptuous.

I did have Startle once, but it was so ugly I tossed it. I showed photos in the daylily forum and you thought it might be a tissue culture. I only paid $8.00 for it so it probably was just that. It was when I first started to include DLs in my garden. This winter when the DLs are hopefully burried under snow, every form, shape, size, color, & ruffle will start looking pretty good.

Jean has a good suggestion.

Jane,the only problem with "chicken fat" is that they tend to "hang up" in cooler weather and not open fully.Sometimes you have to help them along.

On the Robin, someone suggested that a term better than 'chicken fat' would be 'scrambled egg edging'. It seems to me that someone could come up with an attractive term that isn't food though. Any suggestions?
