So, a follow up: I've been calling and stopping at the Lowe's frequently just to see. I called yesterday and asked -- when I finally got someone in the garden department AND explained what Citrus meant ("you know, lemons, oranges, grapefruit" ...), the answer came back "yes, we have lemons, limes, and oranges. Well, it's not all that I was looking for, but definitely worth checking out, so I stopped on the way home from work, AND had to make a special detour to get there, since I now am taking an alternate route home as the road the Lowe's is on is under major construction and is a mess. HOW DISAPPOINTING. For $19.98, they have a three to four inch stick in a four inch pot all in a glossy display carton with citrus photos and a "Grow Your Own" label on the box. I mean hey, $20 for a barely rooted cutting. What a joke! And, about half of the probably several hundred plants on the display rack were already dead or clearly dying. The rest of the Lowes garden center was a mess, too -- looked like nothing had been watered for several days, despite the fact it's been like 85 to 90 degrees with no real rain here.

Hi again. Country Gardens is amazing, too. Located near Ashippun, WI Take I-94 west to Hwy 16 N Drive to the end (runs into Oconomowoc), to the 2nd Hwy P exit (north). Go right on Hwy P to Hwy K. Take a left. Drive about 1\4-1\2 mile, take right on Mcmahon Rd. Drive for awhile(4 miles?), cross Hwy 67 (not labeled), cross Pennsylvania St. You should see a sign just past crossing. It is about 4 doors after Penn. St.on the left side. Large variety of perennials & grasses, absolutely beautiful plants. They have lovely display gardens, too. Near Decorah. IA, look for Willow Glen. Awesome!! Large variety of perennials--many hard to find, different types of willows for basket making. Beautiful garden layouts. ...and it is very close to the Seed Saver's place, just off the same road.

Sandi, if you are in southern Wisconsin check out the Flower Factory near Stoughton, south of Madison. They have some very nice demonstration gardens, as well as a large variety of perennials, and especially hostas and daylilies.Take your checkbook--They don't take credit cards. If you want a trip to northern Wisconsin, plan to stop at the Winter Greenhouse near the village of Winter in Sawyer county.The demonstration gardens are spectacular all spring and summer. They are one of the best sources for perennials--healthy, moderately priced plants and a very large listing. They also have some wildflowers, shrubs and water plants and annuals early in the season. Hi Don_r, It might help if you posted just where you are in the Midwest. According to Wikipedia, the Midwest covers quite a large area. You might want to also put your state abbreviation in the zone box in your Member Page profile, (see I am zone 5/6 S IN).
