Thanks for sharing the new brood. Yes, you've met some generous folks.

If I may, I'd suggest those Crassula ovata in the pots at the top be misted heavily every few days - they'll grow roots faster and then you can start watering their soil. I'd do the same with those three Epiphyllum cuttings you have grouped together.

Your first four - Crassula ovata (with the second two C.o. f. variegata).

Your next five are epiphytic cacti, which you likely already knew - I don't know the genus/species.

Your next one is Kalanchoe thrysiflora.

Your penultimate may be Euphorbia lactea 'White Ghost', grafted to grow faster. Careful of the sap - it can be an irritant or worse.

Your last is, I think, Pleiospilos bolusii.

Stay warm? Yes, I'm trying to do just that, but with a high of -3C today, it's proving a difficult hustle.

Cactuscharris...thank you so much for identifing all of my plants!!! I have my notebook out and have written down the names...I will mist the "Crassula Ovata" only Right? Then once they grow alittle larger, then water the soil?

When you mention the one that has sap that can be a problem...The "white Ghost" is that the fan with the pink outer edge? That one does have some prickly little spikes!!

Christmas night we had a huge snowstorm here in Virginia Beach...When we would have maybe one inch, the city will close schools...now with this last storm on the 26th, we had totals of 14 inches...we are still seeing the effects..we are not equipped to handle storms like this!!! LOL...I will show you a pic that I took that day!!!

Of course Jeff nailed the IDs. Only I might add that your Euphorbia lactea 'White Ghost' is the crested form. The normal form is more columnar with many arms branching off the main stem. The normal form is not usually grafted, while the crested form usually is. Regarding the Jades, if they have roots, they can use a little water now and then.

Your palm tree in the snow pictures continue to fascinate me; such a beautiful sight. By the way, we had 14 inches of snow up here in New Hampshire from that blizzard as well Sunday night. But this weekend will be in the 50s. That's New England weather for you.

Hey, Laura! Nice Jades....yes, a very generous giver, indeed!
If those Jades have roots, a little water won't hurt. I notice that there is wet soil in the pics,
so I assume that these were rooted already? With pots that size, and with peaty soil, water lightly.

Hey Josh...yes I had just watered them before I took the pics...I will wait a while before I water them again....maybe mist then water a little...They did have roots when I recieved...some did not..I will just mist the unrooted ones...

I really am fascinated by the icicles as well...especially hanging down from the fake ones!!! LOL...Mother nature said that "she" could do a better job than the fake ones!!! The light at night behind the icicles is just beautiful!! I wish that I could capture that ....But since they were measuring over 4 feet long...my son decided to take care of them this afternoon!!! Good thing bets were not called in yet!!! LOL...

Katkuskris....the white Ghost was potted in the glued mediumof pebbles...that bothered me, but i had to buy it...I loved the color..I cannot see anys signs of it being grafted...Like my Plumerias that are grafted, you can see the graft line...could it be under the pebbles...would you recommend this spring to break the pot and repot in the 5-1-1-mix? I have been trying to study about the different mixes...and am ready to start with new mixes come spring! I have located a nursery located an hour away that has turface and other special ingredients that will be helpful...so I know that my medium is not that great...but I am a "newbie here on this C & S forum, but ready to commit to repotting the right way!!!

Hi Laura:

The graft on your 'White Ghost' is easily visible where the white meets the green, a wedge graft. The rootstock appears to be Euphorbia neriifolia, which is commonly used for such grafts. Yes, I would remove the glued on rocks and replace the potting mix come Spring. I would be careful with watering until then. Euphorbias like a more organic mix than Cacti, according to Haage, but the mix must be well draining.

I am so happy and proud of you with your cactus and succulents collection growing! So beautiful and from so many good people. But I remember you being just as kind a generous too. You are deserving of many good things according to my mother.

Your pictures are amazing and they almost make me like the winter season.

I bet your plants will be able to go outside a lot earlier than many of our's here, and they will just relish the thought, let alone the reality!

I can't wait until spring to geet my mix started...5-1-1- or Gritty mix for jades? Now about NBC? I haven't had any luckin looking for Foliage pro...I was thinking that I shouldn;t be fertilizing now anyway..is this correct? I will check out the nursery when I purchase all of the ingredients for my mixes. If then I can't find it I can probably order on Line...is Foliage a granular or is it a spray? Sorry for the questions... But, I'm trying to figure this out!!!

Kaktuskris...thank you for the explanation on the graft...I do see it now...that is quite amazing!!! Why do growers glue the pebbles together...this seems like an invitation for them to expire...I have seen Sagos planted like this as well...Seems like they want to grow and enjoy for a while...then dispose of the plant...only for some to keep buying...I guess that's kind of what others talk about with bagged mixes...Marketer's dream!!!

I think I enjoyed the bubbly a bit too much. Not to the point of a hangover, though.

Regarding the glued on rocks, beyond the aesthetics, I thought it was for shipping convenience. But maybe you have something there about it being a marketing ploy to limit plant life.

I had a Jade in a small pot with glued on rocks that I practically had to use a jackhammer to extricate. The main plant did not last long, but one section I managed to keep alive began to flourish, with the undersides of the leaves a nice burgundy colour, and now it is growing beautifully. Good luck with your Jade cuttings!

I will try and keep the Jades and others healthy...come spring I will repot to the 5-1-1 mix...I will keep you posted about the glued pebbles as well...I would really like to repot this now, but I will take your advice and limit water and repot this spring...Thanks Christopher!!!
