Comments (24)Geez, what a nightmare. Why can't people just be honest and treat others like they'd like to be treated? I just don't get it, it's not that hard. I really wanted to bid on some beautiful RL bedding, a rare style, but I really had to read between the lines and push to get info. Apparently with the shams the seller mentioned although never used, she did launder one "by mistake", but it went right back in the package. Saw no logic in that whatsoever... Since it was cotton and lace (delicate), I wondered if she dried it (which would ruin it). I emailed her asking if the washed sham had been distorted or shrank as a result. No reply. I wait a few days, auction is nearing and end, and basically email her a 'hey, I'd really like to bid, but have not received a reply to my question so I'm giving it one more try here.' That generated a response from her, she admitted that the laundered sham was 'snug' and corners 'curled', but suggested ironing would make it fit properly again. Good grief. (She failed to include that significant detail in her description, even after I asked, she didn't post my question and her answer.) Very cat and mouse. I'm glad I took time to push it, because although it was a beautiful set I might well be out the $, and it would be worthless with only one good sham (and it garnered pretty high $$). I'm watching to see what kind of feedback occurs once the buyer receives it. Anyway, back to valinsv's guy. Clearly there are major issues with some items he sells. Is he too ignorant to realize that having integrity would only bolster his business that much more? That's the part I just don't get. Treat people right, they'll keep coming back. Treat them badly as a habit and sooner or later he's going to lose. Seems to me with the type of volume he does he'd be a lot further ahead if he'd just be honest. Just curious mona if you might know: if he does get kicked off, is his IP address banned, or just his ebay ID? He seems to have such a huge system set up and selling high volume, can't see him just walking away. Could he just come back under a new ID? (Although given his business and volume and listing style, it would be easy to recognize it might be him.)...See MoreeBay question (and my grandfather's pic on eBay)
Comments (15)If you add it to your "watch" list, you will be able to see the time left for the listing. It really is small in size, isn't it?. Why didn't I think of that?? (Because I have the KT, and I'm spoiled.) Yes, it's awfully small, and faded, I'm sure. It would be nice to have, but for not very much money. I have some similar memorabilia of his. I have no idea what "lg" means. Certainly not "large." LOL I found it because I have a standing search request on eBay for any items that contain the word Luckstone, and also one for "Alice Campbell," my grandmother (his wife) and also an opera singer. A different Alice Campbell was a novelist from around the time time period, so unfortunately I get notifications whenever her books are listed on eBay. But no big deal. I bought another picture of my grandfather on eBay--not his most flattering, but an interesting photo. I also found a listing that claimed to be selling a photo of Harry Luckstone, but it wasn't him. I wrote to the seller, who ignored me. ;-)...See MoreE-bay selling questions
Comments (4)Can't help you with percentages, but can offer some advice. First look up the item that you are selling and put a watch this item on it and see if it sold. No sense selling something that no one is not buying. Yes there is a small charge if the item does not sell. That will depend on how many photos you list etc. E-Bay will let you knopw what the charges will be and you can back out if you want. I have shipped a saddle across the country for $60 so think small. The PO has small boxes that are $7.95 postage paid. If the item will fit in a padded envelope - that is even cheaper. Books and Dvd's can go media mail and that saves money too. Be sure you say which payment types you accept. Yes Paypal costs money but it is convenient for me as a buyer or seller. Beware the "low baller" who might ask you to take half of what your item is worth. One offered me $25 for something I later sold on E-Bay for $60. Also I state I will not ship overseas and that gets rid of some scammers. Beware of anyone who offers you a cashiers check for more than the amount - there are fake cashiers checks and money orders out there. Often the person says they will send an agent to pick the item up. All they want is you to cash the check and send them money. Scam scam.. I had a lady once say an one of a pair of items was broken and she would not have paid so much. I came back with - take the item to the post office because I carried insurance on it. Well she did not want to do that. Insurance is cheaper than worrying about something that is lost or missing. All for now, Kathy...See MoreeBay removed one of my listings (again)
Comments (19)Interesting input! This is what eBay said to me: The item you listed uses electrical muscle stimulation and is not permitted on our site. While this particular device may be available over the counter, machines that deliver an electrical shock to the muscular system to alleviate pain are often available only by prescription to ensure proper usage. Because of this, and since we cannot easily tell which specific machines are available without prescriptions, eBay as a company has made the determination not to allow any of them to be sold within our marketplace. Weird that they allow the tens machines. It must be, as Lydia said, that someone reported my listing. The playing card incident happened some years ago. As best I can remember, eBay said vintage items like mine disrespected Native Americans. They requested that I make a donation to a certain N.A. charity. I don't recall whether donating would have enabled me to proceed with my listing. That doesn't sound quite right, but for some reason I'm thinking it might be a possibility....See Morecactusmcharris, interior BC Z4/5
