Where to buy citrus rootstock in San Jose, CA. area

So my sister thinks her friend has a Vietnamese type pummelo tree and want to have the same one in her back yard. My thought is to get a bud wood from that tree and graft onto a rootstock. Does anyone know where to buy ready to graft sour orange or trifoliate rootstock in San Jose area?

I am not sure where to get it. But, you can try ordering seeds of such trees online and germinate them or get a cheap grafted citrus and cut away the grafted part and try to graft your pummelo onto it.
But, if I were you, I would just graft that pummelo onto any existing citrus in my yard (or container). Joe Real (a GW member from N Cal) has 80 types grafted onto a single citrus tree and all of them are bearing.

Yes, I think I will graft that pummelo onto her large grapefruit tree.

Thank you all for the replies and the reassurances! Now I realize I have a wheel barrow full of suitable crushed granite :) One thing, though, will the crushed granite still be okay with everything 1/8" and smaller sifted out? Should I amend with a little more Turface to balance out the increased drainage? I suspect the crushed granite is still good from what I know about gritty mix, just want to make sure. @Al - I hope your recovery is swift and complete. Thank you for your help. Not just here, I've learned so much in such little time reading your many posts. @simonk - Lyngso is indeed the place a tried, a lead I got from the Regional Supplies thread. I'll keep that max size of 3/8" in mind! @robertbay - If you are around San Jose, check out U-Save Rockery. They have crushed granite that is the same grit as Lyngso's Desert Gold. The plus, though, is that it doesn't have nearly as much dirt and debris encrusted. I only went to Lyngso because I visited U-Save Rockery and thought Lyngso's crushed granite would be smaller. I don't think I need the $200 investment into an eco-shredder :) I will keep EB Stone in mind though, thanks!

Not sure if they have 4 cubic foot bags, but Lowes and Home Depot in Massachusetts does sell Perlite. I did the same thing and looked online but with shipping costs it was much, much less expensive to buy it locally. Good luck.

turtleman, I'm resurrecting this older thread because I'm going to try my hand and some grafting. I'm hoping (crossing my fingers) to be able to get some Xie Shan and Ugli budwood from CCPP this June. And some third variety I have yet to decide upon. I've never grafted before, so this will be my first attempt. So, I'm trying to find good rootstock for my S. California area. Can you ship to California (I know there's talk of quarantine for AZ.) I will probably only have 36 total budwoods (3 varieties, 12 pieces). So, small order, but I'd sure like to try my hand at this. Patty S.

We bought one from Dennis at Davies Appliance in Redwood City, but discussed buying with Floorcraft (SF), Atherton Appliance (RWC or San Carlos), University Electric (San Jose), CG Appliance (Daly City). CG appliance and Davies Appliance had floor models that we considered.
