Hi! You poor thing, want to grow roses, eh? ;-)) You only want to cut off the blooms once it doesn't look good (what "doesn't look good" is up to you). Clip or snap off just below the bloom. Your new plants need all of the leaves they can get now, so no "hard pruning" for the rest of the season. No cutting off "old wood", no pruning down to the soil level (you'll never do this at all, unless the canes are totally black and dead). After blooming, you can fertilize. Fish emulsion would be good. You can try Espoma Rose-tone, but some of it won't break down in containers (I still use it anyway). Miracle Gro is OK too, but some people like to stay away from synthetic fertilizers (roses don't know the difference). Good luck!

Watering will be up to how warm your days are and how much rain you get, kumquat. Check your soil, and if it is starting the dry out, water well. Not deeply, just well enough to soak the top 18 to 24 inches (deep watering citrus has gone by the wayside, it is not necessary and a waste of water.) That might be once a week, twice a week, once every 2 weeks, impossible to say since I don't know how much rain you're getting or how warm your area is. And, your satsuma will naturally drop excess blossoms as well as excess set fruit. If you end up, however, with a lot of fruit set past the ball bearing/marble size, you can thin some if your tree is very tiny, and you fear the branches breaking. You should be fertilizing (actually, you should apply fertilizer before blossom set), and then every 2 to 3 months through about Sept. You should be following your citrus growing recommendations for your area. Check out your local Cooperative Extension office's recommendations for growing citrus in your area. I would keep it in the ground until it frosts, cut off the foliage, then a week later dig it up, wash it, dry it, and store it in peat moss in a cool place. Some people do fungicide. I didn't last year do fungicide last year, but may this year. Good luck!

There is no need to dig them up. Just clip off the stalk below the seed heads leaving most of the stalk and leaves on the plants to allow them to feed the bulbs for next season's bloom. Once the leaves and stalk turn brown, you can clip them off at the base.
