Yeah.. I had too much sugar today..

Last year I got Symphony of Fire (first year in my garden) and it was AMAZING.. it was rich red and it bloomed and bloomed and bloomed.. like most of the summer.. not exaggerating.

I just ordered "Humble Heart" from Marietta Gardens.. it looks AWESOME... I"m very excited about it.

Actually .. I can't believe I forgot Malaysian Marketplace.. if one could swoon over a flower. this would be it.. it's gorgeous!

My Favorite Red was FRANKLY SCARLET but, I haven't seen my BETTY FORD bloom yet, at least that I rememeber.Red Volunterr was very pretty, too.

Kathy, I have a few. Of the lot the one that's taken "center stage" has got to be 'Spider Man'. When I got it a few years back one vendor was still asking $75 for it but I've seen this one as low as $8 at a few websites in recent searches. What it lacks in bells-n-whistles it makes up for in sheer garden presence. Hearty foliage and BIG, bold RED blooms! Sunfast compared to some others I've got, the first year was nice but it's clump strength makes it my current favorite.

I'm having some trouble with my PBucket account but if you can get into the DL album there should be some larger shots of this one in comparison to it's nearest neighbors, 'Red Ribbons' (a dandy red as well) and 'Spider Miracle'.

My must have is APPLE TART. I was pleasantly surprised by it last year. It bloomed between 4 and 5 weeks. It even polyed a few times, but maybe because of all the rain we had last year. One scape had 5-way branching and 26 blooms, but most were 4-way with 19 blooms.

Whoa! There are some awesome reds here. I seriously don't think I have enough red in my garden. Gotta check out BETTY FORD, LATE TO THE PARTY, POTION FOR PASSION, and ACQUIRE THE FIRE to see if I can afford these.

As I was looking at all the reds, I was thinking about someone who doesn't really see daylilies like I do (like my husband... sure wish I could get him hooked.) A red is a red is a red to him. I can't imagine not appreciating all the different qualities that distinguish one red from another.

Some beautiful daylilies here! For years the only true red I had was Autumn Red, & I'm not fond of it. Of course, it multiplies better than average, so I have plenty of it. As I began to collect a few daylilies, I avoided true reds, just thinking them too "common" I guess. I did get Persian Ruby & Chicago Apache, but Chicago Apache just has never been that great for me. A couple of years ago I got Red Volunteer, Frankly Scarlet, King Lamoni, Bold Move, liked them so much & got a few others & looking forward to seeing them bloom this year. I really love those with just a bit of a yellow or white edge. Thanks for all the pictures everyone!
