Keeping Garden Records

So, some of you have talked about keeping blogs to create a record of your gardens. Some keep journals, as I have done in the past, but! A couple of you mentioned spreadsheets, and the more I thought about this, the more I liked that idea!! I would also like to create my own calendar. So, when my Stokes seed order arrived, after I finished fondling the packets, lol, I entered each packet into a spreadsheet. I have started simply, with a column for common name, variety, amount purchased, recommended sow date and a note whether it should be started in or out, transplant date if neccessary, notes, for the flowers/herbs if have added notes on sun/shade preferences, height, annual/perrenial. I now think I should add actual start/sow date, 1st harvest, notes on which varieties I prefer. Maybe I should have done a database...

So, what do you do, in this regard??

Nancy.
