Supposedly there are isolated stands of both Cupressus Macnabiana and Cupressus Bakeri somewhere in siskiyou county, california, however I have not seen them. If anybody has any information on sites I would appreciate it.

Massive logging has recently taken place on much of the forest service land, and it wasn't "selective", it was pretty much all-out devastating clear-cuts. Another victim of Bush's "Healthy Forests Initiative"...chalk another one up for your vote for him in 2004 (the only presidential election he actually won). You can see the clear-cuts from the top of the 5,000 foot tall black butte. The clear-cuts are usually "replanted", but they are basically mono-crops of ponderosa, and are lacking both in the ecology, soil organisms, and the spectacular beauty of a healthy mixed-species, old growth forest. Not to mention that it will take years for the plug seedlings to reach heights of any stature.
