How do I keep foxes out of my garden?
Comments (15)i use this stuff called liquid shotgun... it is a spray that smells like slim jims (just my opinion) and it keeps all sorts of animals away, it doesn't harm the plants and what it does is slightly burns the nasal passages and/or mouth when the animal sniffs or bites the plant. i read on the bottle that you can also use it around decks, sheds, garbage cans, etc. it doesn't harm the animal but creates a less than desirable environment for them. you spray it once and it lasts up to two months. i use it to keep deer away, this is my 2nd year with it and i actually haven't even seen a deer near the yard this year. last year they were eating my plants EVERY night. i also spray my fruit trees with it and it keeps the deer from them, it also wards off birds from the fruit too. if you are interested i will get the exact name off of the label for you. i believe the company that makes it is called bonide. it smells strongly for the first day, but after that i don't even notice it. i have been finding suspicious teeth marks on my pumpkins this year- i have no idea what it is, but i sprayed the whole patch with this stuff and haven't seen any more yet. i like this stuff because i don't like to harm or kill anything, i used to not even kill bugs but since i began gardening i can't help but squoosh the ones that are eating MY food. anyway, i hope this helps... it cost me $20 and i am almost at the end of the bottle (2nd season using it) a good investment if you ask me. i got it at my local nursery/landscaping store. sarah...See MoreI have a banana tree that fell over
Comments (1)Is your banana tree planted close to the fence? If it is which is like most of my bananas, I would use a stretchable green tie string to secure the banana close to the fence. You may need to double up or triple the string if your tree is a huge one. Or if it is close to any steady structure like another sturdy plant with strong stem/trunk or a pole, that might work too. And if none of these are available, then stake a long wood plank (not the regular garden stakes for they might be too weak) or pipe section into the ground close to the banana tree and secure it to the support with stretchable string so as not to hurt the pseudostem. It's good you're not giving up on your banana. There's always a chance they may come around. As to your question to whether to cut the brown leaves or not, I'm not for sure, but I would think if they're really dried up, they won't be of any use anyway. Maybe for the reason of lightening the load of the tree, it might be better off without the dead leaves?...See More9-foot Plumeria Fell Over!! HELP!!
Comments (5)Jason Sorry to see your situation. A lot of thought needs to go into solving you dilemma. It is not possible for me to see just how much of the trunk is truly detached. Regardless, I am almost tempted to suggest that you attempt to completely remove the tree and get it to re root in a large container(you will need go info on how). You need to be very concerned about your tree sitting in the hot sun!!!!!!!!! You also need to be aware that if you try to stake the tree and notice it didn't work about a month from now... that you will have to try and container root it and we will be entering into cooler nights and much trickier re rooting. If you ever do try to re root the whole tree you will need to be very careful about not over watering it / letting rain water it when tree goes dormant and temps drop.. Your problem is fixable but choices need to be made and action need to follow FAST. Let me know if you need further help....See MoreI fell over a speed bump...
Comments (18)The section on the side of the thigh from the knee to the hip does not have lot of padding. The big muscles are concetrated on the front and rear side of the thigh. Getting rapped on the side of the thigh hurts and will be sore for a day or more. I remember in highschool that one of the nasties boys would do to each other was to punch the side of the thigh with a raised knuckle. The muscle would knot up and the victim could barely walk afterward. That spot would remain sore for a couple of days. How do I know? - I was the victim....See Morenoki
