Container citrus question -- grafted vs. own-root

Does anyone know if there is any merit to growing a grafted citrus in a container as opposed to growing one on its own roots (rooted cuttings)? I have several plants (Ruby Red GF, Meyer lemon, Satsuma mandarin) in pots all of which I believe are on their own roots. They are all fruit-bearing. The lemon is starting to bloom again. But I know how finicky citrus roots can be about drainage, oxygen, etc. Would a trifoliate rootstock be more forgiving??
