Nice looking conifers. I really like the Early Cones also. Sounds like it's a banner year for cones. The banner year around here is the horrible Maple seeds from neighbors trees. :)

Cher...I can relate. A horrible year for helicopters. My neighbor across the street has one. Cleaning up after their yearly drop is hell.

I agree Dave. This year has been overwhelming for me. Just getting too old for the massive cleanup. :) I am in large Maple tree nightmare here. In my world, those pretty conifers above would have thousands of seeds around them. We need to do a separate post on how people handle the cleanup.

Some lovely plants!In the third photo what is the weeping tree called in the background?

A pretty straight forward Picea abies 'pendula'. One of the first unique conifers I found that started me on my path of ACS, addictive conifer syndrome. I've moved him with me from my previous residence, my wife and I think it looks like a shaggy mastadon. It a picea pungens 'Montgomery' and a bristlecone pine made the trip.

I went to take a picture of the mastodon and took a few others of spruce pushing new growth.

Picea abies 'Nidiformis', anoter that made the trip over quite a few years back. I bought it a box store, still one of my favorite cultivars. Looking forward to it as it ages.

I can't believe I saw your Perry's gold in SD. I'm in NW IA and the greenhouses here don't recommend them. How did you nurse it along? Are you in a valley? What part of SD are you in? I would love to see all your beautiful conifers.

Sure have alot of old classics that look mighty fine.

Your 'Hillside Upright' is looking quite nice. Sometimes they can be a bit thin out from the main trunk.

I'm just over in Sioux Falls area, be nice to have a fellow conifer junky pay a visit,I feel a bit isolated at times. I grew up in NW Iowa around Sheldon

I'm not sure how to get your info, but I am in RV and would love to stop sometime. We go to SF all the time. Where do you find most your conifers? Not from the local greenhouses, Im sure.

Hey glo2001 just drop me an e-mail at (hladdengast@yahoo.com) I atually do get most of them localy, athough I order anually from Coenosium. There's a few great nurseries in the area. Most 'specialty' conifers in this are all come from Iseli. I know all the garden center people and will request certain plants. I just picked up a whole tray of fancifull gardens plants from a nursery in Spirit Lake. Spencer Ia. has a good nursery as does Spirit Lake Ia. But by far the best area nursery is in Aurora S.D. owned by Norm Evers. He's developed a few of the plants offered by Iseli. Mostly thuja occidentalis, 'Rushmore' and 'Norm Evers', and pinus mugo Tannenbaum', definately worth the trip. Norm is a great guy a wealth of knowledge. Would love to have you over for a garden tour, your just around the corner, this is a good day

Be happy to conifer joy, raining right know so I get some pics tommorrow. If you go to the Iseli web site they have pics of them. Noted for being able to with stand harsh wind and cold of this part of the country, I believe they were from seed selection

Harv, you sure have some beautiful new growth going on down there in SD. Mine is just beginning. I took a few photos this weekend I will have to share them when I have a few spare minutes. This time of year is so hectic for me. I have WAY too many summer hobbies. I'm lucky it was ugly, windy and rainy today allowing me to get online again.
