Hi everyone, I thought I'd share some more photos from Upstate. No daylilies yet, but plenty of spring color.

Unknown daffodil (purchased as 'Acropolis,' but I'm not convinced this is really it).

Unknown red tulips; looking down my back yard rear fence.

Narcissus poeticus recurvus, my favorite daffodil (it's blooming a little early this year).

Tulip 'Sweetheart.' This is a perennialized planting, and the flowers are smaller this year - I top it up every few years, and it's due for more bulbs this fall. The flowers are greenish at first, then turn sunshine yellow with the white edges.

Unknown multi-flowering tulips and peony foliage. My peonies have great foliage this year (many of them were new two falls ago - I went nuts with a GHWild sale); I'm hoping for strong blooms.

Okay, enough for now. I'm just playing with the camera. When I get to the daylilies, I'll REALLY be busy.

Pretty Laurel, my daffs have been finished long ago. They were beautiful this year. I don't do tulips often. We have to treat them like annuals down here, and that's just too much trouble...lol

Narcissus poeticus recurvus is sooooo pretty! You'd better take that one with you when you move.

Reine Victoria was one of my first antique roses and has remained a favorite. La Reine is one of my very best and the size of the plant is not intimidating for newcomers to antique roses. This rose is the easiest to sell at my yearly plant sale because of its shape, color and rich fragrance. I like your choices very much. Spring bulbs are always cheerful.

Jean: I know about hot and humid weather and we are suppose to get back to those dreadful temps/humidity later this week. For now, I'll enjoy the cooler and windy weather we are having now. Easier to get gardening work done. mantis: Glad it helps you. I don't mean to downplay a hybridizers creation but if it doesn't show improvement in 2 years, it has to go where it can flourish better. Even with this seasons up and downs (it could happen again), it's another way to see which cultivar is able to stand the test of our weather patterns. Julia

Jean: Arctic Blaze is definitely a keeper. I was so surprised when three of the blooms opened at the same time. Real nice photo op. Recent purchase too. Purchased it from David's Dazzling Daylilies. He has some terrific plants and what a variety he grows. Nice thing he is only 45 minutes away from our place. Laurelin: Princeton Eye Glow came from Mystic Meadows as bareroot in early June. Sent up many scapes and blooms. Not disappointed with that one. Sea Gold came from EZ Plant in Michigan back in Mid May. Lots of buds still coming. Nice healthly bareroot plants. Your about an hour away from us. We are on the west side of Seneca Lake between Watkins Glen and Geneva. I'm a former NJ native and we moved up here permanently about 10 years ago.Love this area and can't beat the convenience of all the wineries :-). Julie: Thanks. Trahlyta I purchased from Mystic Meadows as a bareroot back in early June. It sent up many scapes and lots of blooms. Unfortuately, it's on it last one :-(. I have to say, this has been a great start this year with so many of the daylilies blooming during their first year. I have a few Bennetts. Not many, as they are hard to find in commerce!! So I always enjoy yours. I like both form and color of Careless Dream. Bold Symphony bloomed forever in my garden and with those stark white mid ribs was always easy to see in a bed! It is a large bloom.

Fortunately the N.p. recurvus isn't expensive or hard to find. Depending on when we move, I'll probably take a clump - I have a lot of them, scattered around the yard. Honestly, I don't recall having so many varieties - I was definitely a forgetful squirrel when I buried them over the past 10 years. . . .

I am really excited about the peonies - they've had time to establish now, and they should start to really perform this year. I'll be happy to post pictures when they bloom; a few already are setting buds on top of their foliage. I have a variety - singles, Japanese, doubles; heirloom and modern; darkest crimson to creamy white. I'm anticipating them as much as the daylilies. Most of the peonies will move with me too, if at all possible.

Lovely Laurel...Brings back fond memories of a month or more ago. My peonies are buded but only 2 have bloomed so far. Enjoy the beautiful colors in your yard...Ellie

Blossoms on the old crabapple in our front yard. They smell heavenly!

An unknown dwarf or intermediate bearded iris (it's short, about 15-16" tall in bloom), from my friend Jeanne - an heirloom, but I don't know which it is. It's prolific, and early - a real little gem.

Those are lovely, Laurel. That split cup daffodil is really pretty. I have some but don't know their names. Your fern looks better than mine. Nice pictures...Thanks for showing us...Ellie
