This year, both in an effort to avoid the ban-stick while sharing photos, I am going to post seven plants a week.

Some are new, some are old but all are cool! :)

Picea glauca 'Burning Well' - One of the more interesting, year-round plants.

Pinus schwerinii 'Wiethorst' - Hugely popular(the #1 hybrid pine search on Google) for a reason. Gets better with age.

Abies nordmanniana 'KBNG W.B.' - Comes under many names, probably all the same plant. No matter what, it's awesome.

Cedrus deodara 'Gold Cascade'. A wonderfully colored, somewhat spreading/weeping plant. It's habit does tend to vary.

One for the pros. Bought as Abies procera x koreana but I think it may be Abies procera x lasiocarpa. Help please!

I love the Auntie Ann soft pretzels and always treat myself to one when I find them. Here is a copy cat recipe for them. Auntie Anne's Pretzels: Copycat Recipe Makes 12 Adapted from Food Network 2 cups milk 1 1/2 tablespoons (2 packets) active dry yeast 6 tablespoons brown sugar 4 tablespoons butter, melted 4 1/2 cups flour 2 teaspoons fine salt 1/3 cup baking soda 3 cups warm water Coarse salt 8 tablespoons butter, melted in a shallow dish Warm up the milk in the microwave or on the stove for just about one and a half minutes. It should be about 110Ã¯Â¿Â½. If it's too hot it will kill the yeast. You should be able to comfortably keep your finger in it. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for about 3 minutes. Add the butter and sugar. Add the flour about 1 cup at a time and the add the fine salt. Kneed for about 10 minutes with a stand mixer, or by hand. Put it in a greased bowl and cover with greased cling wrap. Let rise for 1 hour in a moist, warm place until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 450Ã¯Â¿Â½. Divide dough into 12 lumps (I like to divide it in half, then divide each half into three, and then divide each remaining one in half again). Roll them all out as thin as you can. Combine the warm water and baking soda in a wide bowl. Form the dough into pretzel shapes, then dip in the baking soda water. Place on a greased baking sheet and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for about 7-11 minutes or until browned. Serve with cheese sauce. For Garlic Cheese Sauce: (A Yammie original) 3 tablespoons butter 3 tablespoons flour 3 cloves minced garlic 1 cup milk 1/8 teaspoon smoked paprika a pinch cayenne pepper 8 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded (Not pre-shredded. Do it yourself.) In a saucepan, combine the butter, flour, and garlic over medium heat. Whisk until lightly browned. Whisk in the milk, paprika, and cayenne pepper and continue whisking until thickened. Add the cheese and whisk until melted. Can be reheated in the microwave. Our Liquor Control Board gives out seasonal magazines featuring fine food and alcohol. The magazines are very popular, much coveted and they run out of issues quickly. This is a Macadamia nut cookie recipe featured in an earlier edition, that is in my to-try binder. HAWAIIAN MACADAMIA COCONUT CRISPS Store in a cookie tin for up to one week. The macadamia is a rich, fatty nut that originated in Australia but now grows in Hawaii. It has a creamy, crunchy taste and texture. Substitute cashews, if desired. 1 cup (250 mL) butter, at room temperature 3/4 cup (175 mL) granulated sugar 3/4 cup (175 mL) firmly packed brown sugar 1 egg 2 tbsp (25 mL) grated orange rind 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) all-purpose flour 1 1/4 cups (300 mL) rolled oats 1 tsp (5 mL) baking powder 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt 3/4 cup (175 mL) sweetened desiccated coconut 1 cup (250 mL) macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped 1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C). 2. In a large bowl, cream butter and both sugars. Add egg and beat well. Add orange rind and beat well. 3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, baking powder and salt. Beat into creamed mixture. Stir in coconut and macadamia nuts. 4. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto buttered baking sheets, about 2-inches (5-cm) apart. Press down the tops with a fork to flatten slightly. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are golden. 5. One I've recently saved.Found on Pinterest. Now if I had company coming I could try it soon! But not. Baked S'mores recipe courtesy Baked Perfection Ingredients 1/2 cup butter, room temperature 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup sugar 1 large egg 1 tsp vanilla 1 1/3 cups flour 1/4 tsp salt (optional) 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs (approximately 5 full graham crackers) 1 tsp baking powder 2 or 3 super-sized (5 oz.) chocolate bars (e.g. HersheyÃ¯Â¿Â½s) 1 1/2 cups marshmallow creme/fluff (or mini marshmallows if you must!) Directions Preheat oven to 350. Grease bottom of pan. In a large bowl or stand mixer, cream together butter and sugar until light. Beat in egg and vanilla. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder and salt. Add to butter mixture and mix at a low speed until combined. Divide dough in half and press half of dough into an even layer on the bottom of the prepared pan. Place chocolate bars over dough. Two 5 oz. HersheyÃ¯Â¿Â½s bars should fit perfectly [for 8 by 8] side by side, but break the chocolate (if necessary) to get it to fit in a single layer. [use 3 Hershey's for 12 by 8 pan] Spread marshmallow fluff evenly over the chocolate layer. Place remaining dough in a single layer on top of the creme. This is most easily done by putting the second half of the dough in a gallon size freezer bag. Use your palms or rolling pin to flatten it out, and then use scissors to cut down both long sides of the bag, so it will open up book-style. Open it up carefully, and the dough will stick on one side of the bag. Then place the bag, dough side down, on the other three layers. From there peel the bag up and carefully spread the dough where it is uneven. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until lightly browned. This looks interesting, and is certainly easy enough! Note the cake mix size. They have all shrunk now, and we're not going to get the same size out of a 9x13 pan. Citrus Bars (Mr. Food) 1 (18.25-ounce) package lemon cake mix 2 eggs, divided 1/3 cup vegetable oil 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened 1/3 cup granulated sugar 2 teaspoons lemon juice 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar 2 tablespoons lemon juice Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, beat cake mix, 1 egg, and oil until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup of cake mixture for topping; set aside. Press remaining cake mixture into an ungreased 9- x 13-inch baking dish. Bake 12 minutes, or until lightly browned. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese until creamy. Add granulated sugar, lemon juice, and remaining egg, beating until smooth. Pour cream cheese mixture over baked crust and sprinkle with reserved 1 cup cake mixture. Bake 20 to 22 minutes, or until lightly browned; let cool slightly. In a small bowl, combine confectioners' sugar and lemon juice. Drizzle over cake then cover and refrigerate. Once chilled, cut into bars.

Great conifers Will. My faves are Burning Well and Gold Cascade and whatever that Abies procera ends up being is really nice.

Your plants look beautiful as always. Especially like the 'Burning Well', that really looks awesome right now as the buds are just breaking.

Out of curiousity, what are the other names for Abies nordmanniana 'KBNG W.B.'?

Also, what was your source on Pinus thunbergii 'Emery's Dwarf' - I like that one a lot too.

That looks like it definitely has some lasiocarpa in it to me, Will.
Also, I believe the shape and organization of the needles is very similar to that of Abies koreana. Probably Abies x procekor.

I must correct this photo as a deeper search revealed the link below which has a nice 'detectives trail' of the entire plant history.
I now write it correctly, disregard the photo title above.

Abies nordmanniana 'Broom H' (Formerly Abies nordmanniana 'KBNG W.B. - Formerly Abies nordmanniana Hunnewell WB). Also NOTE: this plant is DIFFERENT then Abies cilicica/cephalonica 'Hunnewell WB'. That is a whole 'nother mystery still.

Thanks, Will, and I too must clarify. I meant probably NOT Abies x procekor but rather Abies x koreocarpa (Abies koreana x Abies lasiocarpa)

Nice pictures and gorgeous gardens Will! I'm anxiously awaiting the picture show each week.

All of your trees are very cool but I particularly liked the 'Gold Cascade'. What zone range for it and is it growing on a standard? (is that even the correct way of asking that question??) Also, what is the purple plant growing to the right of it?

Will, Abies x procekor is right.
The buds and needle setting are typical for Abies procera and the needle shape is typical Abies koreana.

Your Picea glauca 'Burning Well' pic shows us the typical bud swelling for this species, just like the Sam's detail pic of the Picea glauca 'Blue Teardrop'.

I'm glad you mentioned the right name here for the Abies nordmanniana 'Broom H' so the investigation wasn't done for nothing :0)

Abies procera (Hupp's Seedling #4) is a realy nice plant.
Is this the original one or is it a grafted specimen?

Windhaven, Cedrus deodara is generally hardy to about 8-12 degrees. Some are a little more so, others a bit less. We rarely see temps below 20 degrees here in Winter and never below 0(farinheit), so it probably has very little chance in zone 5. It is indeed grafted on standard which is helping it shape up better.

The purple plant is a purple flowering heather. Not sure of their hardiness, but they are wonderful companion plants to conifers and come in a huge variety of colors.

Thank you Edwin for the confirmation/correct and though I will need to double-check I believe all four seedlings I am growing from Jason are original plants.

Will, if we only get 7 a week that leaves us with 364 for the year. Could you bump it up a bit?

'Burning Well' is of course a favorite of mine but Cedrus deodara 'Gold Cascade' is somewhat exocitic to me since I can't grow the genus. Keep em' coming!
