Received two citrus from Briteleaf (IN FL) today...As usual, they are gorgeous, tall, vibrant green leaves and full.

Now's the 'risk' of setting them with other citrus...I'm not afraid..I've a good instinct these are healthy trees, and my instincts are usually correct.

Got a Ruby Red Grapefruit and Nagami Kumquat.

My only dilemma is whether I should repot or wait until spring.

Let's say, per chance, one of these trees were infected with Canker or Green Disease..How long would it take to infect my other citrus? Toni

Toni, check out the site that Laaz suggested (greening) in response to the post of "no more money". That article says it can be present (undetected) for as long as 3 years! That's really scarey!!

I think that you are right not to worry. Yet.
It would take some bug, like an aphid, to suck the juice from a contaminated tree, and then your other trees, to spread the bad juju around. The chances of getting a tree with greening from the Tampa area, probably not high right now. A year, five years from now, things may be very different.
I've been reading ALOT about greening and the Asian Citrus Psyllid. It is not yet clear whether this insect can overwinter in a colder (than Florida) climate. I'm thinking that a screenhouse may be in the works in the not too distant future.

Thanks Ken, very familiar with the DD movie and song. [g] I was just playing songs from Sound of Music Saturday. Some of my favorites. OKay, whatever will be will be. I had two very nice clay pots that I left out with dirt in them two winters ago and they cracked and some of the base broke off. I am stupid. I really liked those pots and I've looked to try to replace them and I haven't seen any as nice yet. The ceramic is not clay at all and they are empty upside down and have been left out at least 3 winters. They are heavy, that's why I leave them out. My garage is very cold, so I would want to put them in the basement and that would require lifting them. I just went out to check them, one is frozen to the stone under it and the other seems to be as well at least on one side. Nicolsworth - I have some daffodil foliage up that much in one bed and I grabbed a couple of handfuls of chopped leaves and dropped them on top of them yesterday. Maybe you could try that.... or straw/hay, or shredded paper? We used to get pretty consistent snow cover every winter for at least most of the winter, but those days are long gone. We've only had about 3 inches of snow and it turned to rain and was gone in 2 days.

I'm not sure what you mean by "my park". You must mean "my property". Didn't they give you a handout on general rules or explain what could be done for your particular property? They are usually very helpful in that regard. Give them a call and ask questions. If you can't do the work yourself, you will have to pay out of pocket. There are lots of guys and handymen and lots of companies that advertise brush and weed clearing and tree trimming in Cal Fire risk areas.. They will have recommendations and give a quote accordingly. Get several quotes. We basically have a bare dirt yard all the way around our house and have the weeds mowed down and cleared when they die back in early summer. No bushes around the house, no trees overhanging the house, no leaf debris in the gutters, no piles of logs of needles. We have burn piles on allowable burn days. 4'x4' is the maximum size pile that does not need a permit. They take one look and we pass inspection.

Re; check-washing. I saw a news item last year about a local couple who had thousands stolen that way - and it was their insurance payment or something like that. They couldn't get their bank (Ally) to do anything about it, so they turned to a local news station's consumer advocate, and that did it. The bank finally responded and made them whole. Also, I've seen plenty of information about how card data can be stolen. Skimmers is just one - that's the device mounted over the card reader, and it's noticeable if you're aware of the scam. I've never encountered that because I haven't used any sketchy ATMs, only the one @ my credit union, for a few years now, and I only go to the same couple of always-busy gas stations. What is the risk of a grown Jacaranda collapse ?

We have a grown up Jacaranda tree in the garden, it is now showing the roots on the surface, and it is big big ! it is very close to the house and if it collapses it will cause a great deal of damage. my gardener says we should cut it! it breaks my heart:( what is the best thing to do and avoid both damage and losing the tree? thank you ! best grace

Scott, yep, walking across the street or even standing on the walk can gitcha..

But, my premonitions are fairly accurate and no juju will come to my trees. "I cast you out, Green Disease!: LOL

Anna's citrus are checked regularly, by the ahem, government and she and her husband. So, I trust her as I would a family member..Toni

DPI has been on top of their inspections and checking everything carefully. If the trees looks healthy they probably are.

Yes, the trees are healthy looking...now I have to find more room..LOL..the fun part..and there's 5 more citrus I plan on buying next spring..Citrus are highly addictive..Toni
