Aloe arborescens 'red form' and Aloe ramoisissima
Comments (14)Well,let me say-I have seen the red form-and its ALL red-even in light shade. I think I was jipped..this plant is only reddish-you guessed it- in summer and with little water. No doubt with these red forms-only buy if red because reddish plants arent going to get much better. This winters coldest wettest weather didnt bother it. Im sure it will grow and look redder this summer. Pics then. btw, The ram did great, plumped up and got that nice winter color .It was a double trunker until the cats knock it over-now I have two plants. No big deal..the broken stem had proto roots anyways....See MoreIs it Aloe bainesii and when can I climb my tree?
Comments (9)Thanks Geoff, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Your tree looks great! Is that one going with you? I imagine it's in the ground, one heckuva job if so. On the other hand, there are at least 3 different types of large ants and they all bite. hoovb, I missed my chance at picking up a 'Hercules' last year. That won't happen again. BTW, when I was 20 Bill Clinton was president;)...See MoreWhen can I take cuttings?
Comments (2)Hi, I seem to have much better luck with cuttings taken around the beginning of June. The plant is into growth mode at that time. Right now mine are into going to sleep mode ;)) Having 2 nodes for each cutting also seems to help. Yes, you have the correct product to make your plants blue. If I were doing it, I probably would put some down now and also in spring. Mary...See MoreCan I take cuttings from my gas plant?
Comments (1)Sylvia,Tamera. whoever you are. Try some softwood cuttings, jest for yucks. Treat them with some rooting hormone and put in a mostly perlite a little peat media , keep out of direct sunlight mist the leaves a few time a day, If you have time and see if anything happens. Also keep the media as near as 70 degrees as possible. if it works then you can write a paper on it so the next person wanting to do this won't have such a difficult time finding info. Too bad you don't live next door we would ahve agood time trying to get these shrubs to grow from cuttigs. Thanx for listenin and keep 'em plants growin' Lois...See MoreCentral_Cali369
