Dining room got finished up today, I painted the window trim and called it done. Floor needs to be refinished, LATER!

Once again...WOW!!!!! I hope your keeping the zebra floors. I have never seen floors like that and I just love'em, love'em, love'em.

I'll bring dessert, pineapple upside down cake with whip cream.

Hi Leasa! Great to see yet another room done, yay!!! It's really all coming together now, isn't it. Give yourselves a pat on the back, and I'll be over with the appetizers and some bubbly!!! Gean, "Rob, you'll never have to apologize to me for buying more roses; I wish I had a neighbor that was so afflicted!" Thanks :), I wish all of us could be neighbors. I'll have 1 'Long John Silver' on a large trellis and rambling along a split rail fence right behind the trellis, (see 1st pic), and the other one along with 'American Pillar' on a pergola over my patio that I'll be building this summer. The others will be on similar pillars as the ones in the 2nd pic and on the south wall of the house. The only roses that died on me last winter were 'White Dawn' and 2- 'Fair Bianca'. The FB were my fault because they weren't buried deep enough. Yes, I'll be posting pics. :) Rob:)

Jeanne, your Valentine t'scape is amazing. Perfect time to use your DM's stems. Dollybaby looks pretty real and like she's enjoy everything. Your cp is so pretty w/kids vase and raindrop roses on top of the heart cloth with sprays. I agree your'Baileys' cups ... are so-o-o- sweet...perfect for Val Day! I passed up some of those cups and I'm pretty sure it was because they wanted more than I was willing to pay at the time. Yep, we all need white dishes to use w/ts. I own 4 or 5 now. I'm thinking your snowflake "Home" salad plates were such a great choice for you. I'd buy them too if they were at the right price. Love them with your Winterfrost dishes too. 'Love birds' as napkins rings peaking out of the bowls is so cute. I enjoyed seeing your back of the cupboard decorated. Love the idea of stamped burlap. Wouldn't it be neat to use red burlap and stamp it? So glad you shared old pics and valentines. Inspires me to want to go find my other old ones. "Despite making beautiful children" I'll bet you had a thing or two to do w/ that, my friend. I think you have an inner beauty that undoubtedly shines through, Southern. What were the odds that we'd be involved w/ the same two men, a few states apart? LOL. I'd love to get back to Nashville. I had a great time there when my cousin married. I was very early pg w/ my first - it was like a magical time for me. I kept quiet about the pg'cy as it was still early, but I was excited, etc. Loved the town and love that the celebs are given some breathing room! My friend's sister was always in a hat and dark glasses and we did all the running for her. On the courts, she always had a crowd which was to be expected, but you'd like to be able to eat in peace every now and then! She was a great role model early as far as our sport went and her disposition, but was not a faithful wife, sadly. Her parents are crushed as she just had her second divorce - this one, w/ three kids at home. (her fault both times, unfortunately) Sadly, losing my g-father was like losing the glue that held our extended family together. My generation of cousins doesn't seem as committed to staying in touch, etc. My g-father was one of ten. Until just a fwe years ago, eight were alive and kicking - reunions were frequent and I have such fond memories (most are in Ohio). Of the two lost before the age of 90 (or close to it), one died of natural causes and the other in a plane crash. Thanks for the advice for my mother - she's amazing - truly is my right arm and I'd be lost w/o her. I'm relieved to have my own private neurologist these days, lol. And she's a sports fan, too! I'm with you - love that college basketball. I'd take tix to the Final Four any day over the pros! Has dcubana been around here lately? I did offer a little dental advice awhile ago... We moved into a neighborhood of 1960s-70s colonials. One of the many things I liked about our house was the black slate foyer floor. A new friend came by and mentioned that "that slate is really easy to remove" and she had just put new large-format tile in her foyer instead. 12 years later and I still prefer my black slate. The other thing I wouldn't and won't change is the kitchen curtains. The kitchen faces the street and includes a breakfast nook, so we need some curtains, but I don't want to block the view altogether. The house came with cafe curtains, as well as an upper tier of curtains (not a valance) for the larger breakfast nook windows. They are somewhat sheer, maybe translucent is the word, which I like: it's like looking through lightly-frosted glass so I can see if someone is walking by the house without really being able to see who they are. The little ruffle probably dates them the most, but given that they are otherwise plain it's cute. What I'd really like is a toile pattern, but I just can't find a fabric that is translucent, without being "shiny".

Oh, Lesa! LOOKIT those floors!! And I do like that nice blue, and I'm not a blue lover. This house was painted every color of disgusting blue (no nice blues) when we moved in and I lived with them for 10 years so I've got bluephobia. I can't believe all the work you are putting into the house.

I have what is left from the curly chicory from the garden, so I will braise that and bring an heirloom tomato salad with fresh basils - straight from the garden!

Wow, another room already?! Just thinking about all that work is enough to send me to my recliner (sure I have one!) and crank it back for about an hour. Nice work, you two.

You should be smiling - that room is beautiful! Love the color. The gray in it gives it a comfy denim appeal. And those floors - wow! They look great even unfinished.

I have a ways to come so how about I just stop somewhere local and get some lobsters. : )

Can't wait to see the kitchen. You really need soapstone counters in that old house. : )

Just love that blue color! I am a blue person, or at least I was, now I'm leaning towards red...but, your blue is beautiful.

I'm on my way to enjoy some of your cooler weather and eat some of the fabulous sounding dishes everyone is bringing. Since I'm coming from the south I'll bring some Spoon Bread (who out there knows spoon bread?) and lots of real butter for melting on top.

All that love you're pouring into this grand old lady is going to come right back at you. What a transformation. Mmmmm I guess that leaves the dessert up to me. I'll need to borrow your kitchen and fridge. Libby, we're going to need lots and lots of wine :o).

That periwinkle blue is just gorgeous!

I shelled peas for 3 days last week, so I'll bring 'little white peas' to go with Vikki's spoonbread or Cameron's hushpuppies. If you've not had Cream 40 peas or other southern white peas, you've missed a treat.

May as well bring some of the blackberry jelly I made this week. DH picked the berries. By the time I finished, the whole kitchen was sticky.

Annette, the kitchen may be finished next week, I do hope so, I've worked on it for several days and I'd love to have it checked off in the done column.

Oh My! We need recipes! Everything sounds so darn yummy! Blackberry Jelly! OH YUM! I'll make some bread as soon as the electric is turned on in the kitchen!

I am in the process of redoing my kitchen to and I have everything picked out except fot the dining furniture. I can't decide what to get. I saw a dining furniture set here that i like and the price seems good, but i am so indecisive. Yours looks awesome!
