Just up the street from me my favorite sister trees, which I saw planted years ago took a big whallop! It saddens me but I am sure they will bounce back like our citrus do.

Just a couple of broken trees. Sorry. Roads were blocked so I couldn't take more.

If only the wind had taken down the ones blocking the sunlight into my yard.

Wow, Mother Nature's wrath. Sure glad none of these came down in your yard or worse, on your house, Mike. My gosh.

Oh my goodness everyone, I had no idea this thread would take off like this! Well, I kind of thought we all loved plants and would all love to group up at a place like this! So what do you say, let's all hook up and go on a spending spree here! lol Would you believe they only have on person there a day that volunteers to look after the plants!? Yes, I could not believe it. I might join the ranks. Elkay, they heat with oil heat I think. I'll have to check it out. i did find out they have a system that gives them fresh water to water with. Yes, Massachusetts it is! Now, if you are ever in the area, let me know and I will take you there. You can buy anything you want you just can't find anywhere. Did you all happen to notice what looks like a Rhododendron in the Yes, I could spend all day here, and in fact, go there at every chance I have just to be at peace and examine every plant there along with looking at how they are cared for and what they thrive in 18th picture down? I thought is quite unusual. Rosey...lol I have thought of sleeping there for a fee...Caring for those plants for free.lol Toni, Come on up! Bring a lot of cash with you. By the way, did I tell you that only here can you buy the most unusual pots too?;-) Josh, you noticed..lol Jodik, how did you know? lol By the way, I'll be going back there Saturday to buy one of those Chocolate smelling ones for sure. I had the slowest here and run the most memory intensive apps. It was a special that someone forgot about at Dell. It went up 350+ dollars in a day. For a lot less of a computer. I run Graphics, cad and mechanicals. Rendering a 150 mb file gave me the blues. It was not a option at under $ 900.00 delivered with a bunch of goodies added. We run 02 bubblers on guide boats here. It really helps keep them alive. (bait) I have been playing gardener so I guess it would be a good thing to try???? I am always tinkering with something or researching. Sometimes I wonder if anyone other than an engineer would see the beauty or be able to fix my stuff. I do try to design for simplicity but simple is sometimes complex to others. If there is room in the garage an old freezer upright makes a cheep enclosure for propagating and is easy to heat with a light bulb. I do the low tech spiral bulbs. They seem to provide enough of the spectrum to make plants thrive. Cheap and very versatile. Life is not bliss w/ the quad. (Vista) Sometimes it feels like a started a race car only to find I always had to air up the tires before I could start. GRIN I have leaned it out a bunch. Today I saw where they will now ship w/o all the trial ware and spyware. Mine went away the 1st few hours. It wanted control. On the heater above 70 they propagate real fast but also want to die of mush. I kept mine most the time around 65-70. Fungicide and Hydrogen peroxide help. The really good cutting will amaze you at how quick they root. The other 60% plus are the ones needing the help. I know nothing about holding over big bushes. I would do the dormancy thing if I had to keep them inside. I have heard that plumeria is dug and hung upside down. Hmmmm Keep us informed of the progress. Jim

Kathy: I'm always a "dumbdumb" with names :) but Josh and other friends here have helped: that plant is a Dyckia. Josh: I'm trying to keep my plants growing well but being a "nomad" I must consign them to Mother Nature most of the time and be contented with what come up :) Really wish I could stay permanently in my mountain home but DH is still working in the big city! That would be a whole lot of pictures.....lol. There are at least 60 hoyas in my house, many duplicates, quite few AV's, then there are all my gesneriads....streptocarpus, episcia, kohleria, aeschynanthus, nematanthus, there are a few christmas cacti, a whole lot of pothos (I love these too). My hubby is a philodendron maniac....lol. He has plans to fruit a monstera deliciosa, takes a couple years but he is determined....lol. My Hubby is into these primitive looking jungle plants, and we are both in agreement that by the time we die, our house will look like a jungle of hoyas and philos. I will take more pics, and show you a few more.

Oh, thanks a lot Josh and Patty!

Yes, the only thing I am hearing around these parts are chain saws. I actually thought my neighbor was in the process of taking down the tree in his yard I hate until I took a closer look:-(

I am so grateful that the branches missed my house and actually me hobbling about underneath them. That was a no no. Not again.:-)

Patty: I am getting VERY discouraged here. How long before the average person can start to walk again after a heel injury? I have been told just a couple of more weeks with therapy. I hope so. I really hope so.
I am at least able to stand on that foot with full weight in the past week when just two weeks ago my foot couldn't even touch the floor, but just not able walk forward yet without the muscles feeling stuck in the foot and back of legs.

Please any good news here?

Mike hugs buddy...I am so glad you are safe, things could have been so much worse. The clean up will take time but it will get done and the trees will regrow and new ones will get planted. It is hard to see those bigger older ones go I know.

I pray for you and hope you are able to walk normal again soon..dont be discouraged Mike, have faith buddy.

Hey Mike,

Glad to hear that you and Sissy didnt have much damage.

You are so lucky not to have those type of trees fall on your house.

We had alot of damage in my area, but not to my house, thank god!!!

I understand the sound of chain saws and generators...still the normal sound even today!!!

We finally picked up the yard and now i have all of my trees back outside...if you want a chuckle of the Plumies and other plants..check out the post on the Palm forum or the Plumie forum. What a mess...listening too crickets at night in the house...

I wish your foot would hurry and heal for you...I know its frustrating and i can only hope that staying off of it and going to therapy is the best medicine for you. It is hard to be patient, and especially at this time of the year when i know you love to be messing outside with your plants. If lived close to you , i would be helping you out with all of the needs to take care of you both as well as your plants...

Hope to see you at the end of the month...
