Guess what I did today?!!!!

I mowed my grass. I was thrilled that I was able to breeze right through it.

I called the boys to tell them. They too were thrilled. The first thing my DIL asked was how do you feel.(she's my worrier)

I told her I felt like skipping around the yard singing zippity do-dah

For those of you that weren't here 2 years ago, there is the reason I am so thrilled. In april 07 I had reconstructive back surgery, then MRSA staph and almost died.

I did not know if I would be able to do things like mow again. I have always enjoyed mowing. Weed eating? no thanks.

It's the greatest feeling in the world, being able to do things that you were thinking might not be possible anymore. I know where you're coming from, good for you.

Thanks again, everyone! My gram doesn't like to have her picture taken but I might take pictures of the food that we make. She never really cooks big meals anymore but she does make things like the salads (potato, macaroni, etc.) and I do make a mean fried steak (not to brag). I like the idea of calling the salad "Gram's Salad". Thanks for offering on how to post pictures but I already have! I post on the garden forums and I did take a picture of the fried green tomatoes and mom's new cookware she got. I don't have the best camera but I do get some nice pictures. Usually if I want something to eat when I'm there, she gets me to cook it or dad if he's there (when we visit). I am so impressed. Cooking for that many for for serving over a long timeframe too. WOW! I bet everyone is loving the meal too. You deserve a long soak inthe tub with a stemmed glass of something and a good nights sleep.

Thanks everybody for your kind words. We actually had people over this weekend SWIMMING. That said, we're still a landscape/construction zone. I'll put some pictures up of where we're at. marta p: Yes, we found a jump rock. It's perfect and will, hopefully, look amazing once properly landscaped. womanowned: VERY long process. However, I'm in Michigan so it's not quite fair of me to count Nov - March. Then in May, our Great Lake State had a record amount of rain which stalled us further. We're on clay so even when the rain stopped, the trenches needed to be pumped out, etc. I was patient because at the time my build was stalled, the rest of the country was experiencing devasting floods and tornados. Whenever I started to whine, I realized that my problems were small in the grand scheme of things. (I didn't necessarily share those feelings with the pool builder, though ;-) Once he got rolling, he rolled. Now we're trying to tie up landscaping.

Doesn't freshly cut grass smell just like victory? I know it's been a long haul for you and this must feel so good. Heartfelt congratulations!

Thanks all, I knew my personal cheering section would appreciate that.

I didn't realize "growing" 3" on the operating table would give me 3" more lung capicity.

My Mom got staph luckily not MRSA after back surgery too. Nosocomial infections are a HUGE problem. I am so glad you are doing so well. GOOD JOB !! c
