Comments (33)3 of the 10 I ordered are no shows so far: Scotti, Lord Herschell & Harlow Carr. 2 weeks ago Tie Dye just poked it's head out, 2 stems & now only 4" tall. Hanajima just popped up last week. I do have past experience with clematis popping up out of no where...thinking they were dead. I had a sieboldii not show up til mid June last year, so I am still trying to be hopeful. I'd be most disappointed about HC. I am curious as if they are still selling clematis? When I google a particular cultivar they pop up sometimes with a shopping cart to buy?! I haven't tried buying anything so can't say for certain. Anyone know? I do have 2 other no shows so far that are not coming from CH. Weird I will have to say because at both nurseries I purchased at least 4 & all of the others have turned up. The weirdest being 2 Wallenburgs, 1 is growing great & the other I keep checking in the mulch...nada. LeAnne, Joy Creek carries Betina. I know you are in Oregon, but I can't recall if they are close to you? Here's to being optimistic......See MoreEvison's Patio Clematis die in pots - coincidence?
Comments (4)Gardengal, I already mentioned that I have 20+ Clematis in containers of the same size (2G and more) with the same medium (Miracle Gro) at the same spot. All of them are perfectly fine except those two this year and one last year. Even a couple of babies in 1G pots survived and are growing like crazy. All these pots were grouped together and covered with leaves. To answer the second question: they do not need more time. They are DEAD. Both of them are almost decomposed :-( I can foresee one more question... No, they did not stay in soggy soil and the drainage was excellent. So, the bottom line: I lost 3 Clematis out of 30+ potted ones after 2 winters. All 3 of them were Evison's Patio Clemmies. All 3 of them had great rootballs when I bought them....See MoreHow hardy is Viennetta?
Comments (9)I have a first hand experience with both Florida sieboldii and Viennetta. Two plants died after their first winter here. The lowest temperature was about -15F. Both of them were well established plants with good roots. The third plant, Viennetta, was a bare root tiny baby from Park's. I planted it next to the house foundation (about 2'). I did not have high hopes for it considering my negative experience with the first two and its pitiful shape. It returned and bloomed for me last year! This year, it is bigger and with more blooms. I told about this in 'My little miracle' thread, Search is not working on GW now......See Moregardenbug
