Choice of clematis for a public place

Hi

I have never posted here so I'll introduce myself. My name is Pierre Crozat, I live in Lyon, France (zone 8) and I work for a small city right outside Lyon as the head gardener.

I have the opportunity to plant clematis along an avenue that is being renovated.

The clematis would be planted on trellis in the middle of rectangular banks of Abelias between street trees. Each bank is about 9 m long and 3 m wide. there is a total of 10 banks. There will be decent sun exposure (8 h +) and the plants will be watered regularly for the first 2 years. After that they will have to fend for themselves

I thought I would plant at one end of each trellis one 1 Clematis ÂConstance + 1 Clematis alpina and at the other end 1 Clematis texensis ÂPrincess Diana + 1 Clematis viticella ÂÃtoile violette (or Polish spirit"?)

Would anybody have comments, adviceÂ?

Thank you

Pierre Crozat
