I emailed Barry a while back, he said he was banned from GW. I was so sorry to hear that,I don't know if there is anything we can do to get him back on, it is a sad day not to hear him post

Musa basjoo seems to set fruit here (BC south coast) from small gallon sized plants to mature plants in 2 to perhaps 4 years. That should be about the same length of time in your area too. If I where you, I'd plant those basjoo out in the garden. They won't be any trouble for hardiness in your area with proper mulching. Here they don't last to long in nursery pots, as they can easily outgrow these in one season alone. I don't think there's any one particular thing to "promote fruiting". A healthy actively growing plant does this nicely without any intervention. Having said that, to get a healthy plant, organic amendments work well. Fish fertilizer is great applied every several weeks or so during the growing season. All this advice will only work if the pseudostems are allowed to mature. Cutting to ground level and freeze back of the stems will rarely produce a fruiting plant in cold zones. The growth season is not long enough. Old established clumps seem to stand a better chance. So sorry to hear of this theft. Sounds like a pro job don't you think. A lady I know who is a hair dresser went over to a swap meet and bought some beauty item to use in her shop. She gave a check. Then all heck broke loose because someone took her check and did the same to her as you had done to you. She did not know this until she tried to give a check at Wal Mart and was refused. Barry, did you ever think of changing your profession. The big bucks here is working on off shore oil rigs. Do you get sea sick? You work I think its 10 days, or 2 weeks off shore, and then get the same amout of time off. I was told how much they made, but I forgot, but it was alot of money. This is off shore in Texas, not overseas. One of the guys does welding and he just brought a small ranch, and put a hugh amount down cash, this is my sons friend. The kid behind us at the coast, got a job as a mate on the boat that takes supplies out to the rigs and he has worked at that for 2 years, he just got his cpt. license, and just told me he now makes $750 a day, and works the same shift, 10 on 10 off. This is a great job for someone who doesn't have any children. Great job for a single man. Barbra,

Barry, So glad to hear from you. That is so cool that you met Damian Maynard and that you extended your hospitialty to him. I bet he does have a lot of interesting stories. Sorry your brugs weren't more productive but don't let that keep you away from here. Dang, if that was the case I would never be on here. I waited all summer for blooms and finally had 2 this past week and that's it for the rest of the season. But look at all of the splendid looking tropicals you have. I love tropicals, hence my name. They look like happy campers. And behind the nanner and EE looks like some tall healthy brugs to me. Hey, OT pics are just as good as brug pics in my book. I knew about him being banned, but he can get another GW name and post that way. I know he was going to a new job several weeks ago, and I hope it turned out great for him.

It's funny. I was thinking of Barry on my way home last night. I've only had one trade with him and read a couple of his posts. But, I was wondering how he is doing these days. I was thinking of sending him a quick e-mail.
