Yes, that was a tiny pot, it happens all too often at bigger stores I'm afraid. The temps in my closed off un-heated room will probably approach 40 degrees F most of the time. I might try to get it even colder by opening a window or something. I don't think its a good thing for it to come out of dormancy in Winter. That room has a busted window anyhow. I don't think the splotches are normal. I'm not sure how they got them, but I'd guess its the wrong amount of watering or some other kind of neglect along the way. I'm just hoping their Basjoos, if their not, I may end up with dead plants, and looming refunds. I agree, not only are they care-less with labels, their care-less with the care of the plants. I've watched them year after year, they let many plants just die if they don't sell. Also, those are click-able thumbnail pics up there, one don't have to strain their eyes on those little pics. I've gotten bananas here in SW-Pa and the problem is that when the bananas first form, you need almost 6 months for the bananas to ripen on the plant. Here, when my banana flower started (dwarf orinoco), it was the first week of August. Problem was that it was too close to garbage season, ahem...cough.... winter. I tried to bring in the bananas to ripen before the first frost during the last week of October but it didn't happen. Not to take away from getting edible bananas, I think that if I had gotten the flowers in early June, I would have more time for the bananas to grow on the tree before I had to bring them in to ripen. Also, just getting the flowers and seeing them form into bananas was a wonderful experience. The banana flowers, it seem to me had a very musky scent that I could smell across the yard. It's not like any other flower I've smelled. Lemon tree flowers, I'd say are the most fragrant flowers out there, but that's another topic! :)

I'm not interested in the basjoo (although I am interested in musa varieties that produce edible fruit). I am starting kiwi, lime, sour orange (for citrus rootstock), and I have some mango and avocado that (once they grow just a little more) I'd be willing to take some small cuttings from, if you want to start some from seed to use as the root part of the graft. I also have several other musa starts that I just got, so hopefully by next year I'll have some little ones to share.

Thanks all. I've been duped! Maybe thats why they died so fast. Or perhaps thats why they didn't have them this year because they were informed they were not Basjoos. I'm determined yet to get some to grow on the South side of my mobile home.
