Anyone tried google maps street view?

This thing is great! I can roam the city streets in search of conifers at anytime without ever leaving the house!

Not sure how to direct link or save images but goto google maps paste this:

Fauntleroy Way SW & SW Webster St, Seattle, King, Washington 98136

Rotate the view West and bingo, Giant Sequoia!

By dragging the gold person icon in the lower left box you can travel anywhere!

I use it quite frequently. They have a picture of the beginning of my driveway. It must have been on a tuesday, because I can see my garbage can set out for pickup. Pretty amazing! My house is still a 1/4 mile from the street and not visible.

I've used it recently to view a new customer's place before looking for it from the car. I had a different image of the garden in my head before I looked with the computer.

Why can't they all just say the same??? In Map Quest: it is Aerial View. In Yahoo Maps: it is Satelite View. In Bing: it is Satelite,Aerial Images AND Birds Eye View!!! I like birds eye view the best! Isn't that cute?? hehe! But, we normally use mapquest ourselves, and the aerial view option.

GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is better than "Street View," and is more likely to be available, especially in other than major metro areas. Most states have GIS programs in place or well under way. They usually are linked to property record databases. It is great to be able to look at the property lines and buildings, all overlayed with a satellite view of the area. We used GIS extensively during our last two property purchases. It saved us many hours of driving around, only to find the property in question was undersireable due to location and/or neighbors. Google GIS and your location/state name.

wadet, have you tried the link below for a slightly different view point? Works a lot like Google Maps except it has a Bird's Eye View option. As with Google's Street View, Bird's Eye is not available everywhere

Live Maps is really nice. Some of their satellite views are much better detail than Google earth. Also, have you tried the 3-D view? It allows you to overly the satellite with the topographical map and fly through it in 3-D

I get a kick out of Live Maps when they have roads drawn through lakes (without bridges), houses (hope no one was home), and other roads (no stoplights or tunnels). Their road map maps are messed up!

apparently i am too rural to be of interest to google street view...

let alone a close up satellite image ...

Did you try Live Maps? Just put in your address in the search bar. When you zoom in to a certain level, the high-res satellite images will kick in, if they're available. I can see my red Honda in the driveway when I zoom in on mine...

Just don't attempt to look for any trees in the Tresco Abbey Gardens on the Isles of Scilly . . . Google's worst resolution of anywhere in the world. Check out at 49Â°57'18"N 6Â°20'20"W.

Done it. On one of those dreadingly boring and cold winter days a few months ago (when I wasn't finding ways to aggravate any of the pompous men on this forum) I found myself looking at google street views of all the locations in Illinois that I knew metasequoia trees were growing and flourishing.

It was then that I realized that I needed to pull myself and my whiskey away from the d*mned computer.

I love how when I rotate the view it changes seasons. Actually pretty neat so see what cars were at my house and all that!

Question: how can I get the GPS locations?

This thing is amazing.. I'm currently traveling through the Seattle Arboretum!

No good views here. My old house can be seen in birds eye view however. It's a white house with a yellow house seen direcly next to it. Comes with a conifer garden and is for sale. 2061 35th Street 61201

There's 25-30 foot Dawn Redwood behind the garage and between it and the alley. Planted at 2.5 foot in 2001. It's tough to make out, but it's there!

wadget, in google earth go to "add place mark" and it will display the GPS coordinates that you can easily copy.

If you turn to the north, you should see a big tree. Its kinda the one all alone with a bunch of branches spiraling into the air. Anyone know what kind it is?
