Your leaves look a little malnourished to me - are you at least using Miracle Gro's more acidic fertilizer for Rhododendron/Camelia/Azalea? Better yet, I would look for and use a fertilizer made especially for Citrus and Avocado (with N-P-K ratio as close to 5-1-3 as possible) with essential micronutrients. One used a lot by members of this forum is Foliage Pro by Dyna Gro.

Also, your soil may be too water-retentive (particularly with Seattle rains). You might want to insert a wick or two in a couple drain holes and let them dangle so that you're getting rid of a lot of excess moisture that can cause havoc on your roots.

It looks like the new growth looks good, so there's definitely hope for your tree! Good luck!

It looks like you have spider mites and also citrus scab virus. A good washing of the plant followed by spraying horticultural oil, maybe with a little copper, will go a long way to improving the health of your tree. I would cut off all the infected fruit for starters.

Thank you both for your help and suggestions! I have been thinking I should look for a citrus fertilizer, and I have also pondered the wick idea. I will try both.

I thought the tree looked like it had spider mites, but I can't see them, and I looked under most of the leaves. I found one little thing that looked like a little spider, but I think it was really a spider. And one other little bug. I removed both and wiped the undersides of all the leaves. I see no webbing or anything like that.

The fruit actually look much worse in the photo than they really look, but it's good to know that they have a scale problem. I will see that anything that's affected gets removed, and I will find something to spray with. I do wash the leaves lightly when I water, and as you might guess, they are sprinkled by rain very frequently!

:You won't see the spider mites unless you have a magnigying glass; but the look of the leaves is classic symptom of mites. The fruit disease doesn't seem to be scale; and I see no other evidence of scale; I think it is citrus SCAB, not scale.

Oh, sorry Johnmerr, I see that you said it was scab, not scale. Thanks again for your helpful comments.
