Ok thank you! I was hoping to hear it was a baby lemon tree ha! I've never grown one from seed before

I did transplant the tree in a bigger pot last year. Thats when the new shoot started. It may have been planted a little too deep. Thanks John.... I did cut the shoot off and just in a few days, the original tree has new growth. What took me so long to cut that off. I knew it wasn't right. Also on the pic, there are 4 other small shoots from the main tree with thorns.I just cut them off as well. I left about 3 inches. I think I should just cut them off all the way as well.

Best time Summer thru Autumn. Take a tip cutting 2-3 inchec long, remove all but tip leaf. apply 0.1% IBA (Rooting hormone) stick in well drained soil & mist taking 25-50 days to root. There are many books with pictures on grafting techniques at any public library that would be the best way to teach yourself.

Thanks for the replies folks. The coating is simply water as we had given it its occasional spraying before the picture there is no signs of any pests or anything of that sort. Do trees require more water once they start bearing fruit? Wonder if the old water schedule of roughly 1 soaking per 2 weeks during winter had become too little after blooming and fruiting... Also from your experience how often and much should we fertilize. We currently do a couple of table spoons of nitrate rich fertilizer every 2 months. we have a keffir lime next do it that is doing wonderful with similar treatment. Is the lemon just more fickle and susceptible to temp and water etc? thanks for your thoughts and advice.
