If the weather warms long enough, and some pollinators are still buzzing, I may get some seeds set on my Confed Rose. None of my cuttings made it (tho they fooled for a long long time). Mine is the double pink and I will be digging it up next spring to move it someplace sunnier, so root divisions may occur.

The first step in securing seed is to not eat all the peppers! hee hee hee. They were hybrids so they will cross with any other peppers in the area. I still have some seed (somewhere) that I can share. They weren't the biggest and the brightest in my garden so if I find them you can have whats left.

That zombie impatiens is the cutest thing ever!!! I love it. Oh and I spent all my fair money on violets and abutilons from Canyon Creek Nursery. I think I bought one of each. Like I need another plant.....

Brenda, I would like to come, too. I have lots of bronze fennel and leaf lettuce and some Verbena bonariensis seed to share. The strawberry plants that I received at the fall 05 swap (from Nancedar) have over-run the 4 x 8 bed I planted them in and need thinning. If anyone is interested, I can bring some of them to this meeting also.
I couldn't find a Briar Creek in Raleigh, so I Googled Paneras to check locations in the area. There is one on Hwy 70 (Glenwood) at Crabtree Mall. Is this the proposed meeting place?

Thursday the 16th at 1pm is good for me. Sorry I didn't have a chance to email you back. I can't seem to shake this cold/allergy. I'm going to pick up more baggies this am. I'm beginning to wonder if my allergy problem is from me sticking my nose down into the blooms or handling the daturas so often. Maybe I'm poisoning myself lol.

Christene just returned some of the donated seeds for the Rape Crisis Ctr that were not used. I'll bring them along, and we can use whatever's left for our annual roving Carolina seed swap box.

I will be in Raleigh this Saturday and can bring some confederate rose seeds (double pink) if anyone wants to try them, and/or take them to your swap. I'll be in the NC State area if it's convenient for anyone.
Ralph, you gave me a perennial lantana a while back that's been great for me! Do you happen to have a name for it? It's yellow and pink.

Kate, as you may recall, I live near the Arboretum and Fair Grounds, so I can meet you if you would like to donate some seed to the proposed meet next Thursday. I do not recall the original name of the pink & yellow lantana, but there was a lantana growing at the JCR Arb this year called 'Ham and Eggs' that looks similar. It is not supposed to be winter-hardy, but several that were left in the ground have made it thru the past couple of unusuallly mild winters. I have several potted up in the crawl space and some cuttings in the greenhouse, so if yours doesn't come back next spring, you will be welcome to another.

Kate, I would love some of your Confederate Rose seed, if you could send it thru Ralph. Is there anything I can mail to you? I live up west of Durham, in Orange County. Shannon, I 'd like to try the Sunset seeds; do you want to try a friend's White Datura seed - he says it comes back for him every year (If it's true, we'll sell this puppy to a grower!)

Sure I'll try it. I am waiting to see if my Datura comes back. I got the seeds from PA and she said she never replants it and its been there for 20+ years. Perhaps it reseeds. Mine got to be 2 1/2 ft tall with large white flowers wthat opened in the evening. I took pictures and I even emailed some to TJ but danged if I can remember how I did it. Shannon

Everything is always centered around food. That is the point isn't it!!! If you want to I can preorder your food so you don't have to wait for it.
Is it too late to take cuttings of my "Blue Skies" and "Argentine Skies"? If they will root this late I can bring enough for a couple of people. I don't think I will be able to get any rooted this fall. I haven't had much luck since September. I know I am going to have to pray that my actual plants make it. But they are in a good sunny spot that drains well.I know not to cut my salvia back but I think I can trim a few stems back that will probably break in a ice storm anyway.

Everyone with a few seeds to trade is welcome! Please come for some lunch, garden talk, and fun. Some of my favorite plants now (leonotis, variegated hypericum, 4 o'clocks come to mind) were unkown to me until I spied the packets in a Carolina seed box. We remind me of little squirrels or chipmunks, storing up and hiding our treasures to last the long dreary winter!
