Neighbors watering my plants without permission
Comments (8)I feel your pain!!! Have been going through a similar situation with a neighbor (for 17 yrs now!). They, too, do things under the guise of "helping" me. I put drought tolerant plants in our front yard, that butts up to the property line between us. They had automatic sprinklers & would flood the area regularly-which would over-spray into our yard. I used to ask nicely, could you adjust your sprinklers, attempting to be a "good" neighbor. His response was "you don't want FREE water"? NO...I don't! There were a variety of offenses...them not understanding boundaries & personal property issues. They cut plants, moved boundary rocks, pulled out plants, etc. When I caught them doing it, they claimed they were just "helping" me. Yikes! What part of "don't touch my plants" don't you understand? I used signs at times. Didn't help. I have no landlord to go to with a complaint. You should...go complain!! Have a face-to-face talk with the neighbor. Unfortunately, my talks with ours fell on deaf ears. They think they can do whatever they want. We are currently in the process of ripping out ALL plants between us, just so we can install a WALL (at great expense to us)...as these folks still don't get it when we ask them not to touch our plants, or things on our property. I wish you luck resolving this issue. I'd say you should enlist the help of your landlord (esp. if you say they have installed a raised bed without permission)....See MoreKentucky Goosberries VS. O. Comments (13)I would guess that Optimara Little Pink Moonstone is a sport of an Opt. Little Moonstone which has a blue eye, not pink. In this case it is a plant on a right with round scalloped leaves, it is a mini and it grows in a more tight way. Kentucky is a semi-mini and has elongated leaves. The plant is more vigorous and has a loose growth habit. Both plants are excellent, and as any mini or semi - require to be repotted more often. I would prefer to keep true bloomers, not sports if space is of an issue....See MoreMiniatures in Bloom - April 2017
Comments (17)Good, good! It is wise to do a little research since plants can be so variable from one growing condition to another. By triple bloom I assume you mean fully double flowers? I think Ness' Crinkle Blue can't be beat for nice fully double flowers and heavy blooming. Another very nice double flowering semi-mini (if you don't mind it being a trailer) is Rob's Vanilla Trail. The leaves aren't so tiny and it rambles/cascades but it can still be kept fairly small if you do not wish to let it fill a pan. Before the Storm and Jolly Orchid you already have. Most of my 'double' minis tend more towards semi-doubles but I'm sure there are many more out there. Yes, easily 3,000 plants here in my art studio - 75 flats on my shelves and more plants outside. But it is what I do for a living along with my artwork and teaching art classes. Once we move I'm looking to erect a greenhouse for my adeniums, orchids, and other tropicals that are not gesneriads....See MoreFinally pink moonstones:) ID pls
Comments (18)Hey, yes breton is right, I was trippin' when I wrote above:-) Sedum craigii stays pinker all year. graptopetalum amethystinium was what meant above, but I'm not sure how to tell it from oviferum. Now I also see ads for Pachyphytum "Lavender Pebbles" and not sure if it's truely a different form from the p. oviferum or just marketing. The photo I posted actually has the sedum craigii planted in the from right corner. if you look close you can see it's leaves stal small, no matter how old it is or how long the stem grows. The grapto amethystinium leaves get bigger and fatter/rounder as the plant matures and elongates....See Morecactusmcharris, interior BC Z4/5
