I got my Secret Santa Package! Thank you Sultry_Jasmine_Nights

I had the most horrible day at work, we moved and when I got to my new desk, I had no mouse, no telephone cord, and only one screen was working. It was just a nightmare. Then after work, I had to go to the store, to buy ingredents, to bake a hugh cake, for the cover of a receipe book. I was so stressed by the time I got home, I walked in with all the bags, and my husband said you have a package. It was so big, it took me over 20 minutes to unpack everything, even my husband was excited. I took a picture of everything, Kristy, if you email me your phone number I will call you and find out how to post it. I posted last night evertything I got, but this morning I got up and my post is not showing, I must have forgot to submit it. So here we go again. I got 6 brugmansia cuttings, Island Girl, Pink Floyd, Bon Bons, Amber Rose, Super Nova, and Painted Lady, 14 packages of tropical seeds, vines, and vegs. Christmas socks, Christmas kitchen towel, RedNeck Christmas CD, Lemax Christmas Village figurines( they are so cute). Wonderful Chocolates. I also got plants for zone 9. tri color rhoco, australin Canna. lg leaft princess flower, tri colored sweet potato and a hugh tropical hawaiian bells vine. I will have to look all these up tonight. I wanted to go out last night with a flash light to start planting, but I had to bake until 11pm. It was just wounderful to come home to that package, Lenette you outdid yourself. It is SO great to hear that this SS gift exchange is making our days that sometimes are so stressed out, BRIGHTER! It is like they come just at the right moment! Which is a gift in itself!

WOW it sure sounds like you are going to have to plant a LOT and next season we get lots of pictures. I know most will know what you got but all these are unknown to me as a beginner with NAMES lol. You all know how horrible I am with names. Barbra do we get to see the cake picture too? Hope it turned out just the way you wanted it too!

Well I was up early so went ahead and opened my SS gifts. WOW thank you Plumbnelly! I got the most beautiful hand painted gourd, a snowman spoon ornament, a Christmas Tree cone, a magazine, and a bag of peach marbles. Here is the photo of my stuff below. As you can see in the background, my newest cat just had to get in the picture. I'm single and live alone with my 3 cats so couldn't include a photo of myself. I tried and tried to wrap their little paws around the camera to take my picture, but they just couldn't do it. LOL Thanks so much for all my beautiful things. I had a great time opening them all. Apologizing profusely for being late in thanking the following for such pretty cards and seeds - Debby_1 - an old-timey Christmas tree with old-timey ornaments within white cameo on green - generous pack of pink impatiens and Pennisetum 'Purple Majesty', even though the envelope was only hanging together by 2 corners - looking forward to finch conniptions so much near a big pot of pink impatiens. NikkiNeel & Sarah Kate sent a cute home-made card with a snowman and Dwarf Blue Curled Kale seeds, so I can give next winter's snowman a green, ruffled hairdo heehee. He'll have red eyes from overdoing eggnog from seeds saved (hopefully) from Sunflower 'Prado Red' and eyebrows from seed saved from Sunflower 'Autumn Beauty'. Clitoria Double White (love white flowers so much) might lend a winter viney necklace from which to hang icicles. KatKni - On an embossed, cut-out card, Santa is walking down a snowy slope, with a red-capped songbird perched on a snow-laden evergreen, conversing with a toy clown and horse in a brown sack on Santa's back. The murky, dark purple of the hyacinth-bean vine, together with white lace flowers of Cilantro, will wonderfully complement the orange of Calendula and earlier brilliance of moss roses in my garden next summer. poisondartfrog - A 19th-century homestead opened up into an awesome treasure trove of seeds. I don't know what it is about color shadows on flower petals, but they fascinate me. Papaver somniferum "Giant Double Cream", "Impatiens scabrida, Helianthus 'Italian Green Heart', Mirabilis 'Lemon Swirl" & Tagetes 'Alumia Vanilla Cream' all involve blushes, specklings and swirls of palest yellow shadowing white petals that hopefully will delicately spread blazing deepest gold from Callistephus 'Princess Hilda' to a pale yellow gold dahlia. Agastache mexicana 'Champagne'' will catch a few glitters and Nasturtium 'Alaska Raspberry' will thread its way up through them with darker tones. There will be sky-blue in the vicinity from Blue Woodruff, Nemesia 'Aegian Sea', Viola 'Miniola Heart Aqua' and Platycodon 'Axminster Streak.'. Portulaca 'Happy Trails' will strew its gem-colors at their feet, and Datura 'Purple People Eater' will hulk over the entire ensemble making sure everyone minds their p's & q's. Earlier in the season, Digitalis purpurea 'Dalmatian; will lurk in tree shadows, and over a sunny, dry wall, pink Lavandula angustifolia 'Pink Elegance' will waft its scent down to passers-by. Well, obviously I'm not speechless, but I can't thank everyone enough for all the amazing, thoughtful cards and seeds they sent to me. I loved participating in this swap and hope to do it again next Christmas. ps - I sent 4 additional cards along with the others on 12/21 and hope they made it to where they were going.

Update here with some cards and goodies I've received over the past few days. Hope I don't miss anyone. I received a thoughtful card from Wenders67. Thanks Wenders! From quiltingfox/Sandra I got a nice card, and Joe pye Gateway, and Trifolium Incarnatum, 2 things I recently discovered I needed. Thanks Sandra! Lastly, I received a wonderful card and envy stuffed with goodies from GraanieB/Bea and Mary. They sent me Romaine lettuce, fennel (I hear the butterflies like that too), eggplant (had been meaning to try that sometime so 2009 must be the year for that), Cress, Zucchini, White hyacinth bean vine, zinnia mix, Lantana 'Carlos', and Coral Vine. What wonderful surprises. Thanks Bea and Mary! Again, thank you all for the wonderful cards, seeds, and spirit of giving that has been shown here in this great swap. I have enjoyed it all so much, and hope I didn't forget to acknowledge anyone here. Now, if I was just caught up on getting some free seeds or seeds for postage together to be mailed. I am so glad that it got there okay and that you like it. The tibouchina grandiflora (Princess Flower) will have large round leaves (up to 9 inches) that are have silvery fur on both sides. It has the same purple flowers as the regular Princess Flower and same growing requirements.
Yours will look like the one in this photo. They are frost tender.

The Strictocardia (Hawiian Bell Vine) is a vigorous grower and makes pretty hot pink flowers with a yellow center, my mother plant has buds on it right now, so it likes to bloom the most in the fall but sometimes will bloom sporadically the rest of the year. They will need protection if it freezes. I would prob. wait till spring to plant in them in the ground. They will both need afternoon shade in TX.
The raccon village figurine is from my dd. She saw them and wanted to get it for you and bought it with her own $ lol! She thought they were so cute. Then I had to also get her a redneck xmas cd because she wanted one too when she saw yours LOL!
I plant those pink and white sweet potato vines under the brugs for ground cover. They look especially good with pink and white brugs and will climb up the trunks with a little coaxing. They are frost tender so I usually bring in a few cuttings in the winter to keep them from dying out.

Barbra, what a wonderful SS gift box from Lenette! You really are going to have lots of fun planting and growing all those beautiful brugs, vines, and rhizomes. Great that your hubby also was excited about your box with all those goodies! Lenette you make a fantastic SS!

Barbara, you got such an exciting SS box filled with lots of lovely plants. I have to look some of them up but they sound really pretty by the name alone. Glad your package came on a day that you needed something to take you mind off the days events. Hope you get settled in your new office without anymore problems.
LOL, I know what you mean about using a flashlight to start planting. With all of the new plants we are getting in our SS boxes, we are already anxious for spring to get here and winter hasn't even arrived. :) Lenette, you're a super SS.
