Hello everyone I want to thank everyone for such a warm welcome :-) . I am kind of addicted to forum. Learning from you all . when I am on the computer the forums are open und in the background is Helpmefind. sunnishine - you are right about being a great place , I have learned so much and learning everyday something new . Chris - thank you I have spent many hours reading the daylily forum , I have the daylily bug too . Sherry - you are right modern technology, it can be a pain in the ... and at the same time a great joy . The world at your finger tips. or just a phone call away. I have an internation flatrate and don´t hesitate to use it . I love to share and you find what you give comes back around and usally is better. Kathy - you are right about this forum , you all got me started again roses. Rainbow - you all are wonderful and what I have learned here is priceless . Julie and Karl - you both are absoutly right about the secerets and tips . some of them you can not use word for word but a litte of this and a litte of that and you have something the works for yourself . and yes Julie the friendships that develope . I am having luch tomorrow with a that called me out of the blue and asked a question about something in the garden , and guess where i got the answer , yepp here from you all . Terry - the people here are great and after a long day in the shop I find it relaxing just to read through the forums, sometimes some of the answere are cranky or short , sometimes I just have to shake my head and laugh, we are adults and sometimes we even have bad days :-) And back to you Karl- I have wore the link to you web page out . some how I am always ending up on your webpage, and my hat goes off to you . It is like when Karl speaks everyone listens . There was a tribute to you a few montha ago and it was well deserved . Randy - it is fun to be around people that enjoy gardening , I wish I could find more here. For me the garden is relaxing and not work . in the summer I am in the garden at 4 A.M. open the shop from 10-8 and back in the garden until dark around 11 P.M. I can sleep in the winter and get things done that I have neglected over the summer . Pauline - is is not all amazing with everything that is out there , and the more I learn the more I want to know. and the more I want to share what I have learned . Judith - I will give it a try . :-) Violet and Niecey - we have had the red lily beetel 4 years now . The first year they destroyed my liles , the second year I planted Crown imperial lillies. they bloom early then the foliage attracts the beetels before real lilles have really started to grow . Then I just spay with what ever is recomended for beetels and they are under control before the real lillies are attractive for them . The crown imperial also repells rodents . They smell like sweaty feet . The first sprig as they were growing I thought oh man my feet stink but I was the crown imperials . I even took of my shoes to snell my own feet but it was not me :-) it was the Imperials . Mendocnio - the world is a better place with beaatiful gardens . I alwas take time to smell the flowwer where ever I am rosantimo- a group hug is alway good LOL first of all sorry for my Denglich ( Deutsch- Englich ) I have been here in Germany to long and second sorry for the novel . What you are seeing in your potted up clematis is what is known as "Brownlegs"...Clematis will get those especially in hotter climates..potted clematis will dry out quicker than those in the ground..that is why I "Sink" my potted clematis into my garden..you should get those potted ones planted in the garden when the weather turns cooler..probably next month..Pruning is essential.especially for baby clematis as this forces the clematis to focus on growing a stronger root system and not growing vines..this is done in the first year..Clematis that are PRUNING GROUP 3's MUST be hard pruned as they bloom on the new vines grown during the growing season whereas pruning group 2's bloom on last years vines..I like to use Rose fertilizer rather than miracle grow..remember that clematis are like Roses as they are heavy feeders and bloom best when the fertilizer has the higher middle number in the N-P-K ratio...the "P" is what makes flowers bloom..Being in zone 8 I hard prune and fertilize my clematis in Mid Feb around Valentines day or as some say when the Forsythias are in bloom..so calculate that for your zone...Jeanne

One thing that I would add is that whether I would plant the clematis directly in the ground now depends on what sized pots the clematis were in and how developed their root systems are. If they are small plants with minimal root systems, I would pot them up into one gallon sized containers and wait for the roots to fill the pots before I planted them. The pots should be left outside until the top growth is nipped back by frost and the plants are fully dormant. Then the pots should be moved to an area where the temps. stay around, to slightly above, freezing for overwintering. The last thing you want to do is have the plants come out of dormancy over the winter and you have to try and keep them living. Now if you had a greenhouse, solarium, or similar structure, you could just place the pots in there and allow the clematis to do what they will over the winter.

Hi powerful in Zion, You like to spend money a lot? Where did you learn that? At home - and were your parents rich? Or from TV? Those advertisers want to convince us to buy stuff ... that'll make it worthwhile for them to run those ads. If the folks who watch the ads don't spend enough to make the increased profit more than enough to pay for the ads ... they quit advertising. So who pays for the ads? You do! Do you like being poor? Many don't. But ... if you want to spend, spend, spend ... ... get used to being poor ... cause you'll likely be that way all through your life. I'd recommend a suggestion that has been made several times, here. Keep track of every cent that you spend, for a while. Separate the spending out according to category. Don't tell us about it ... just look at it yourself ... and see whether that's the way you want to trade your time (i.e. the hours that you worked to earn the dollars that you traded for all of that stuff). By the way, everyone ... ... every one of us has a home-based business. And - we have employees. Most of us, as the usual kind of employee, expect to get paid for the time that we invest where we work. If we don't - we don't stay at that place long! Or, if we're an employer and don't pay our employees, they won't be around for very long! But, in your second business, you have employees, but you don't have to pay them! As a matter of fact, most of the time ... ... they _ pay _ you!! I tell this story to kids, to help them understand how money works, and I tell them that if they send a couple of their employees out to buy ice cream, the ice cream tastes great. But ... the employees that they sent out to buy it - stay at the ice cream shop. They're gone. They won't work for you any more. But if you hang on to some of those Dollar-employees, they'll work for you as long as you hang on to them. With one exception ... if you put them into the mattress ... they go to sleep! Same with the ones in your wallet ... they're not working. And, if you put them into the bank, they only work an hour or so per day! Your job, as usual employers, is to make your employees work smart! You want those invested Dollar-employees to bring in nickels and dimes ... that eventually grow into more dollars like themselves. If you don't have Dollars invested ... you don't have that home-based business that supplements your regular income! On the day that you started work ... you had brains and hands at work ... and no money. On the day that you retire ... you have brains and money at work ... and no hands.
