Sue, I have a couple of large standard pink color and both plants have produced seed pods, I guess the flowers were pollinated by an insect and they created a capsule shaped like a pencil (only thicker in the midlle)and when ripe it opened up and the seeds were attached to some fluff at the end to help them blow away with the wind. I have been able to germinate the seeds and actually grew a few babies that I gave away. I had found a solid red flowered plant at Home Depot for $9 in a 1 gal can and I quickly snatched it up. On my return trip from Redlands orchid show, I stopped at another Thai orchid importer and they also sold desert roses, there I found the pure white. As these plants get larger, I will pollinate the flowers and see about growing the seeds into blooming plants. As far as planting the cuttings, I also have trimmed one the big plants and have left the cuttings in the shade to dry and harden and in about a week or so I will plant them in very fast draining soil mix (cactus stuff should be fine). Please note that if you like the fat base of the plant (Adenium obesum) you will not get it when you plant a cutting. The fat base is only generated from seed, cuttings will grow straight up and keep their slim shape at the base...

Brrian, you should check out the adenium/desert rose forum. Ltran on there is in Houston and has the most amazing collection of big DRs. I've seen triples offered here and there but never quads. There's a link for a place to order online below. George, I went to Joseph's nursery in Pearland and they had a great selection (in June) of DRs, even doubles. I was told they only bring them into the sales areas when they're blooming though I saw lots of giant ones in cachepots that weren't. Definitely worth a call. My Desert Rose is 25 years old. Is it common for them to stay alive that long? It does not like to be watered any more than once or twice a month. It punishes me with yellow leaves that drop off if I do so. It produced delicate fushcia pink blooms this year. It is one of the few plants that I move indoors if temps are predicted to be lower than 45 degrees but otherwise it sits on my patio which is on the south side of my house. On occasion I have had to prune cold-damaged parts but it sprouts right back. It hasn't been repotted in years and I'd like to do so but I fear I'd kill it so I've left it alone.

Will probably have to be SAE only as I can't think of anything I have that you might like ... unless you want some baby Cananga odorata seedlings? In fact, I think it was you who gave me a white brugmansia? I finally managed to plant it out in winter and it's now covered in creamy white, citrusy-scented blooms at night: heaven! I also have an apricot-coloured one--pretty, but not covered in blooms or beautifully scented like the cream one. I can cut off a piece if you'd like to try striking it.
