Hows Mike??? need help tree had lots blooms no fruit

Hope Mikes OK??>>>>>>>holy cow what do i need to do?? only 1 fruit on it, what happened??? other wise i have lots of fruit comining on other trees...can't wait!!!

Hi Buylady!! You ok too? Getting ready to put your babies outside? Yes, me too!

It is going to be 80 by Monday and then 60's. Just perfect for growing.

Next time use a paint brush, a tiny one and poke each flower. I am so proud of you and how nice your plants look. Don't forget to make sure you have no bugs, since this is the time of year they show up before you get them outside.

I am giving you a couple of pictures I took this past week and tonight of a couple of my favorite plants next to citrus! Ohhhh, the smell so good as I type to you!

Hey! That gardenia can't be real. Is it plastic? Haven't you read the long, old post about the suicidal gardenia? :)

Well, I didn't prune the two older ones (Bartlett Pear and Honeycrisp) any more than I did last year, which is to say, lightly-to-moderately pruned and they flowered fine last year... and I BARELY pruned the two younger apple trees, since they did not have much growth to begin with.... I just can't imagine how I would have pruned off every single branch with flowering capability on 4 different trees, unless I really pruned them super heavily, which I didn't. The Honeycrisp apple got the most pruning this year, but I followed various tutorials and felt I was actually probably not taking enough off. But I am new to this so I guess I could be wrong! In any case, the other 3 only got very lightly pruned. And, no, no flower buds ever showed up at all. I have to get my yard ready for a delivery of 10 tons of gravel thats on its way, but I'll try to take some photos later on so you can see how much I pruned.

Hi Journalist- I think we still need to figure out what's going wrong with the bark on your apple tree. Any chance you can post a pic? (I post mine to another site like photobucket or webshots and then just paste the html code that they give you in these posts). Or do a Google Image search for "apple canker" and see if it fits. As for spraying everything with Immunox... You need to be a bit careful when spraying fungicides. You really want to follow the instructions on the label. If the label doesn't specifically say that it's ok to spray certain things, then you should not spray. If you spray your apple with Immunox, I don't think it will matter that there is quite a bit of other rust-infected things near by. For example, across the street from me, my neighbor has 2 neglected apple trees with plenty of rust, yet I got complete control on my property. Spraying at the right time isn't trivial though, so make sure to do lots of research now... when spring comes, you won't have time to figure it all out. Good luck, -Glenn

I am not surprised about the citrus being all rootstock. It wad indicative to what i had seen in various photos while researching. Now, i was reading up on rootstock, and came across some info on grafting. With it being all rootstock, would grafting be a possibility i can consider with that one, if i cut most of it down and got some budded branches from a different, healthy tree? As far as getting thr owners get new trees, i cant even get them to let me just remove them,, so anything i do at this point is out of my pocket, so I'm trying to be economical. If grafting is possible, i would like to at least try before replacibg it entirely. As for the other tree, the other day, i noticed these green fruits growing in little bunches of 3 up near tge top that lpok like apples, maybe?? So could they be apples? And if it's growing fruit, then is the tree ok?

Hi Mike, Thank you for taking out the time to help me. You know I really appreciate it :) I am walking around, and moving a little better but this last back surgery was probably the most invasive, major surgery I have ever had. Surgery was last January. They went in right above the top of the right leg. Surgery was to remove the artificial disc I had put in a few years ago. That was when you and Laura sent me that card, which I really appreciated! Anyhow, that artificial disc was the worst mistake I ever made. It just created more problems and pain. I also had 2 titanium screws break, that had to be removed from bone. So, they went in, and in order to get the disc out, they fractured my vertabrae. I bled out a lot, and they used my own blod to transfuse back into me. Because of that, they decided to postpone the rest of the surgery. They closed me up, and 4 days later, they reopened me. They got my fusion done with the first part of my surgery, so they put a new rod and cage in, And closed me up. I ended up being in the hospital for 5 days total. I went home pretty sore. I have had some nerve issues ever since. My right leg was numb from my toes up to my hip. Now, it is mostly my upper right thigh and a little on the back of the thigh. Ok now for my man o trees. I stupidly pruned my Ma ha Chinook over the winter. In response it started sending out tons of new growth. I lost it because the tree desperatly needed a new pot and repotting, and because I was recovering from surgery, I lost it :( I was really mad at myself Mike! That tree had bloomed once for me, and I am convinced it would have fruited this year! Grrrr! Not to mention that tree came from Hawaii and coat over $100! I still have my Carrie and it is going through a big growth flush. I am hoping it will bloom, but temps are cool here. We have had such a crappy summer here so are, I barely even had any inflos on my plumeria! My jades are doing pretty good. The ones we ordered from Germany are really doing good! I wanted to ask you about variegated Gollum, and Hob it jades. Any idea where I could find any? This has been a pretty busy week. After Tuesday morning things will slow down, and I will email you. Mike grows plastic orchids, but not plastic gardenias! ;-)

I swear that I can smell that incredible scent every time I look at the pictures, Mike. Delicious!

OMG if they smell that good Mike i guess i gotta get one...yes few more days and out they go to play on the deck...I'm kicking them out to play for the summer so to speak...no bugs that i can find fraid to say it LOL..mushrooms are coming up (morrels) yummmmmmmm yummmmmm...doing fine Mike hope you are ALL better..81 here today yeaaaaaaaa..whats w/the suicidal gardenin??

Which Brunfelsia is it? I have a Brunfelsia jamaicensis but yours looks a little different. Mine is easy care and smells terrific, a good plant.

I am very proud of you on that one too. You even now how to post pictures. Yahoo. I am still trying to get my mother to get an e-mail and she is only in her low 60's..lol

Just wonderful. I can't find it. I do know it is not the 'lady of the night', but the other one. They didn't have any left when I ordered it because it was late summer, so they sent me this one. I am very happy they did! The whole greenhouse smells sweeter than candy.
This I can tell you. When I leave it alone in the greenhouse, it seems to LOVE the humidity so therefore holds on to the very white flowers a lot longer.
As soon as I bring it in the house for a night of enjoyment, by the next morning, the leaves have colored to an almost yellow and don't seem very happy. They age a lot quicker in the dry environment and the scent is less intense. I just LOVE this plant though and can not wait until the warm humid summer nights since it flowers intermittently all year.

I'll bet you love yours...:-)

hey Mike you need to borrow my glasses??!!! LAFFINGGGGG holy cow i said it was 81 degrees i meant!!! an its 76 today had cool nites but nothing major putting more plants out today....have agr8 day everyone

hahahaha i thot you'd get a kick out of that....its been sooooo windy 40 50 mile winds so i haven't put my babies out yet but i will soon tho...glad your doin ok...got one tree that has babies on it but several get a tiny fruit and dropped off why is that??? mercy thats aggraviting
