Thinning of flowers or early-stage fruit on my grapefruit tree?

I have a Thompson pink grapefruit tree about 6 feet tall. It is LOADED with flowers. I am not exaggerating by saying there are probably at least 1,000 flowers on this thing. There are clumps of several dozen flowers all over it, each in an area about the size of an orange. They've only started opening recently but they are all getting big and fat.

Obviously not all (or even a lot) of these can actually become fruit. My question is will the tree sort this out itself, or should I thin some of the flowers off? Or wait until they are developing into tiny fruits and then thin some out?

I'd rather have 12 nice big grapefruit than 300 that didn't develop properly because the tree couldn't support them all.
