Chris, NICE job!!! Can you take a pic of the whole tree? Anirbn, My mom fell and hurt herself badly after she got out from a week in the hospital, so I totally forgot too. My bad. It started getting lighter in coloring..It was loosing it's vivid green look because the temps have gotten so cold. But I stuck it in the house and it seems to be coloring up again/. I will take a pic tomorrow..) I have been trying to grow it Bonsai style since I don't need it to be big and take up room. So it's pretty small..

This question is very important to me to. How long after using the systemic insecticide is the plant/fruit edible? I use hand picking/crushing to control insects the size of yours or larger. Aphid and similar, I use 1 tablespoon of dawn in a gallon of water. For badly infest new growth I break off the top down to the nearest acceptable leaf. A twisted contorted leaf of size still produces food for your tree. The mangled limb to the center left had 2-3 inches of the tips removed and crushed to kill the infestation. The remaining mangled but functional leaves are good for the tree. By leaving the leaves on the tree I retain 4 inches of limb to branch out from when the tree grows again. This should cover almost any problems except spider mites. Steve

Yuan, with all due respect, I would disagree that this is wasting time. Reason is because the strains grown in America seem to have mediocre aroma. Immigrant Southeast Asian cooks may note that they don't have the same oomph to them as the ones from their homeland. So while the ones propagated by wholesale citrus growers will readily fruit, the leaves are not as aromatic as can be. Often, Southeast Asian immigrants will grow out many seeds and select the plants with the best scented leaves to use. Experience from my mother. She and her friends agreed that the ones bought from the retail nursery tend to have a very fruity scent. The ones that they preferred has a slightly earthy profile, I would say like curry leaves and usually were shared as seedlings within the community.
