I'm in a quite different climate, but Guernsey Cream is a full two weeks earlier to bloom than other type 2 clematis in my garden, even though it is in a shadier spot.

It can handle full sun in your zone, the cream color may bleach out to white. It's a strong clematis and a good choice. Katie

I have received two "Guernsey Cream" from Birdsongfarm.com, they may be sold out now also. They seem to be very popular at the moment. I have never ordered from Wayside Gardens because the prices do seem high to me compared to other online nurseries. I did purchase two from a Ebay seller, they were very small, and so far are not showing alot of growth, I'm hoping they are just growing roots. They are healthy looking plants though small. The two from Bird Song Farm had an incredible root system and have bloomed beautifully this past month. If you are not in a big hurry, I would wait until they are back in stock at Brushwood or Birdsongfarm. I have no experience with gardenerdirect. Debra

gardengal: I know my 2-3 hrs sun isn't much good for clematis. I have a sweet autumn on my back fence facing north, and although it flowers (somewhat) in Sept. it looks nothing like the beautiful clouds of small white flowers on a neighbor's trellis. I thought that maybe the guernsey cream was an exception to the rule, but now I know it isn't. Thanks for the advice. Miriam
