How many triternata Rubromarginata to cover a 20' wall?
Comments (3)I totally agree with flowerfan. TRM can get huge and in no time at all. I have one on a copper trellis that is 12 or so feet long and it is throwing out shoots like nothing I have ever seen before---even beats out Sweet autumn clematis for growth rate. It gets tall fast also and unless you are somehow going to patiently train it daily, I wouldn't suggest it for a 2 1/2 foot tall wall. Hopefully the other clematis I have crammed in with it will not be devoured by it! Something planted above the wall and draping down and along the length of the wall would be doable though....See MoreSuggestions please!
Comments (3)You can try clematis clematis tangutica, Summer snow (Paul Fargas ), clematis rubromarginata or clematis Betty Corning. Tanguitca has small yellow flowers and flowers in September for 3 / 4 weeks. It can become really big. I admit I haven't cut mine, so it's all over the place. My Paul Fargas is quite vigorous. Mine has a 8 feet shoot. It is fighting with the much older tangutica and is doing just fine for a 2 year old :) Clematis rubromarginata is a tricky clematis. If you have a well drained, sheltered soil it should survive. I planted mine, this year, so time will show. They have small fragrant flowers. I haven't grown Betty Corning, but I've read it can become quite big. I've heard huldine can become quite big too. Good Luck....See MoreLogee's trip Sat., and I have no idea of what to get? Comments (44)Trueblue....Thank you so much..I just hope I don't have a problem with wilt on my Clematis..I'm also hoping it is pretty much hardy and disease resistent..If not, I am in trouble..lol Do you recomend a certain way of planting it? Oh, Logees' was bearable..I did go with Rose and Wes..lol That place always smells so good and so much to chosse from...It's funny though..Every time I go there, I am made to realize I already have most of the ones they have..ha..I am always on the prowl for something new, different and a plant that whaffs through the air! It was so warm in there too while it was cold outside..Sheesh, If I could only work there. Kandhi..Thanks...I love those roses..I am also getting one of those...I think I will put it under my arbor...Cab't wait. Do you have o treat them for fungus or mold during the summer at all? Powdery mildew? MIke...See MoreDoes such a vine exist? (Need vine recommendations!)
Comments (5)I was going to recommend a climbing rose. But most of them have thorns. Unless you go for Zephirine Drouhin rose, which is virtually thornless. However, I don't know how it will fare in your climate. You can check on the rose forums. There are several fragrant clematis. Clematis Montana, Clematis rubromarginata, Clematis sweet summer love. Other vines, are Moon flower (Ipomoea alba), and other less fragrant honeysuckle vines. You need to check for the toxicity of some these vines, for children and animals. Go to the fragrant plants forum and ask for more advice....See Moretwotzus
