Longest blooming clematis for an obelisk?

Prefer some shade of blue to grow next to or into a coral Meidland landscape rose...

Daniel Deronda is a deep blue-purple which would look stunning with a coral rose. Mine bloomed for the first time last year and wasn't without at least one flower from late May until frost. It's a type 2 prune which I don't always have great luck with, but this one is a stunning plant.
Rhapsody is another medium dark type 2 blue-purple which I've read in several places has a very long bloom period, though I don't grow it.

I don't know how large your obelisk is, but be aware of the size of the clematis you decide on so that it is suited to the space available.

You can look up clematis on the Clematis on the Web website linked below, but in my experience, the color of the photos may be misleading, so read the color descriptions which are probably more accurate. Blue is a difficult color to photograph accurately.

I agree with Kathy, the taller the better. I have some 6 ft obelisks and I quickly realized they are just too small for most roses. The one you are looking at is very pretty! I also made the rebar ones but I used 10 ft rebar, drove it 18 inches into the ground and that still left me a little over 8 ft above ground. It took a very few minutes to make them and they disappear visually once the rose grows. I grow clematis with all of my climbers and it is just a matter of what color combinations you like together. The type III clematis are the easiest because you cut them back hard in the spring when you prune your roses. Carol

I have a Warsaw Nike that I didn't get pruned this spring and it is now going on its 4th week blooming for all it's worth. There are still probably 10 buds that haven't even opened. The blooms really seem to keep their color and last a very long time. I buried one of the long vines coming from the parent plant about two weeks ago hoping the vine will take root, I'll not distrub it and hope for the best. My Ms. Bateman and Asao are done and my Ramona and Sprinkles are in full bloom but the blooms do fade quick on those two, but both are huge plants. Jackmanii and Polish Spirit are starting to set their buds, but will not flower until much later.

Hyperion was created in 1924. It is a grand old yellow, easily attainable and cheap. However an enormous amount of improvement has been made in daylilies since then. One of the problems is simply the enormous volume. There are now 60,000 daylilies registered and the list is growing by 2,500 a year. I love BITSY. It is 1963 so certainly not a newcomer. It has a trumpet shaped flower and fits exceptionally well in a landscape with other flowers. It never overpowers, has a long bloom season, and shows up well in the garden. For sheer mass of blooms BUTTERED POPCORN & PRIVATE SHOWING cannot be beat.
