YaY! My 1st Passie Blooms..& Other O.T Pix

hehe..I wasn't expecting these at all. Was weeding and putting down mulch..I look up and there were 6 passie blooms in my face! I was so excited and surprised I squealed really loudly, lol.

Karyn, these are the ones from the amythestina cross seeds you sent that I started in Jan. I wasn't expecting flowers at all this year. I can't believe it!

I think they are sooo pretty..but they don't smell very good. They smell like wet dog, lol.

O, and a couple other OT pix of flowers from today & a couple of the pond with all the rocks in place..I don't like it at all. I can see I am going to be messing with this for a long time and constantly rearranging.

Everything look really nice. Congrats on the passi blooms, I think I am going to get some passis in a trade. Are they easy? Also, the pong looks great! You don't have to change anything but I know how things go, gotta keep messin with it until it looks perfect to you.

wow Daniella those passi's are great looking. Glad this time is no smell internet option available lol. Very very pretty.
Would love to sit on your swing or couch? and just look and enjoy your pond for hours. It is so beautiful.
Do you really think I searched and looked if you have or had grass lol. What is that? rofl

Thank you everyone :) I tried to take a pic tonight..put up some lights, but only 2 so far..8 more to go. Just wanted to get the ones around the pond right first then I'll do the rest. It's a lil blurry, and I took it from kinda far away to get the whole thing in..but, I love what the lighting does for it. Looks so much better at night, in real life..not so much the pic, lol. But I didnt want to use flash. Thank you everyone, you're all too nice to me. And the plant offers..too sweet..thank you very much! Theresa I sent you an email :) Thank you! Marian, yes you are correct, I had to adjust things when I saw the slope. I def didn't want any runoff going in the pond! Big muddy mess! It was a major PITA getting them just right, and was especially hard getting the ponds level since I don't have a level, lol. I had to eyeball it, but I did pretty good with that :) And I tried to get the soil around it all as level as possible. LOL, the kids have been teasing the last 2 days that they wanna go in the ponds. Caught my son playing in it with his fingers..hopefully once the plants are done they won't be able to get close enough to dip their fingers or toes in, lol. Thank you Barry! I do plan on getting some tadpoles, and some tree frogs. I would love to, but I can't get Koi, they wouldn't be too happy, they get too big for my set-up. My son is NOT happy about that. I plan on getting some shubunkins & placos. Shubunkins get 10" so they will be OK..Koi get from 2-5'. Maybe I could get baby Kois and just give them away when they get too big..hmm somethin to think about. The lotus is in the black tub between the 2 ponds. My spots for the brugs have changed again, lol. Still def gonna have some around the pond, just not sure of the spots. I'll post more pix when I decide and have them in :) Mary, thank you. Don't worry about it, I know you're a busy woman. You take your time and just let me know :) Gloria..that's how I started out last year. Hey containers are better than nothin! And easier, lol. Daniella the variety I sent you isn't hardy so it will have to come in once the temps start dropping. I sink some pots in the yard and others just stay in planters. The ones I sunk really went nuts, like KHT said some were well over 25'. I just cut back the vines before I lifted them. I did allow them to go semi-dormant last winter. I usually keep them going but space was an issue. I did lose a couple because I neglected to water them. I think I'll keep the tropical varieties growing year round from now on. Karyn

Thank you everyone! :) Jim, honestly I do not know if it is a rebloomer, but now you've got me thinking..usually I prune it hard after it flowers, maybe this year I'll let it go awhile longer and see if it does rebloom. I can't wait till my NBJ's bloom. Got any pix of yours in bloom? Anyone know if they will bloom 1st year from seed? Karyn, and Jim..have you guys tried the Knockout roses? They are the easiest rose to grow in my opinion. They bloom from spring till the first killing frost here. DH's uncle couldn't believe I still had roses blooming at the end of November last year, he was absolutely amazed...was the good ol KO's! I know the KO's are all the rage in Florida, they bloom year round there if I remember corectly. Yes Shawn, the KO roses are a carefree rose, you don't even have to prune, but I am constantly removing the spent flowers and trimming off the hips. I only leave the hips over the winter. And they are disease and black spot resistant as well. But my reds have some kinda lil white spots on the leaves this year..don't know what's up with that, otherwise they look healthy, blooms are nice. I WISH my whole yard was one big flower bed! DH and kids are ready to kill me as it is, lol. Yes, the Snow on The Mtn is a groundcover, supposed to be only 12" tall, but mine is over that, how about yours? It's so pretty isn't it? I need more.. I wonder if I can seperate that? I love variegated plants. I wish everything I had was variegated. Karyn, yes the passi seeds, mandevilla laxa, and the night blooming jasmine are all from seeds you sent me that I started in Jan. Oh, and the KMOTGG which I absolutely LOVE BTW, it hasn't even flowered yet, but I am SO in love with the foliage..so pretty, and o soooo soft!!! I could sleep on that plant, lol. here I am, here I am, lol. GG, thank you. I am feeling fine. Was having computer probs, but I think I fixed it..even though I thought that twice already and it crashed on me again. I wouldnt be able to get on for more than 5 mins without it freezing or crashing. Sometimes it would freeze while rebooting..SO not good. Yesterday I did some stuff & installed new anti-virus, etc..So far so good..keep your fingers crossed for me that I have fixed this prob once and for all. I think we're gonna buy a new tower anyway, this one is almost 6 years old. Nope, no new pond..just Friggin Hannah..I hate her, and am SOOOO happy she is gone. I am so upset..my arch with the passies and moonflowers on it..bye bye. I had to go out in a downpour yesterday afternoon because I saw it leaning. I tied it to a tree, not realizing I was only supporting it for one direction. When the wind switched and was coming from the N, NW later in the night, well..I found it this morning totally destroyed. I am out of rope, but I was hoping DH had some and maybe he could help me by holding up the broken arch, then I could wrap a rope through and around the top, and over a cherry tree limb, just so it's up..then I could rig it, and attempt to fix it just till the end of the season..but he had to go out on OT again. Was out yest morn, most of last night, and now again. So once again, no help..I don't think I can do this on my own. The arch is 8' high..I'm only 5'1..my arms aren't rubber. o poo..what to do. 90% of my dahlias are trashed, and they were just getting loaded with buds and blooms. Just finished geting the brugs back outside. I ran out of room putting them in the back porch early yest morn and had to load up the minivan too, lol. AT least the seats were out so I had more room. Alot of other plants are trashed as well. Flower beds are just an absolute disaster. But, on a happy note..My MG trees are still standing proud, and I have a bloom opening on one of them! I'll post pix in a bit. O well, I can complain till the cows come home..but at least no branches or trees fell into the pond to destroy it, or anywhere else in the yard..and thank god WE are all OK. I was a nervous wreck with DH out on OT last night. And we were so worried that the stupid big @$$ maple out back was gonna fall on the house. O I hate that tree with a passion. I actually glare at that thing all the time and tell it I hate it. Thank goodness the sump pump in the basment stayed going strong. Well, I finished my donut..back out to the cleanup. Hey..I lost my coffee..... thanks guys :) (((hugs))) o and hey, yeah the kids go back to school tomorrow, I'm SO not ready to get back to waking up at 6am, lol. O, and if anyone has emailed me..like I said I had comp probs, so I didnt get it yet..will get to all that later today. thanks again :)..no worries..I'm here and all is well. O and GG...just so ya know..I am out there again this morn wearing...can you guess?...PJ's and boots! lol. :)

And your pond...... it's fantastic! That's the beauty of gardening you can change it around or plant different plants. Love that Plumbago! That coral BES vine flower is so pretty. Have you ever collected seeds from them? I've been waiting for a long time for seed pod to ripen & dry.The Thalia Delbata really took off. I see 3, really tall bloom stalks. That forms some nice big seeds.

I think it looks good Daniella but I know what you mean. Until its how you like it nothing will seem right. I want some dirt so bad, lol. I can't wait to plant some things around mine. What are the tall plants in the pond? I love all the flowers too. My passi is getting some new leaves thank goodness. I thought the cats were going to eat it down to nothing. I got the funky stuff out of the bio filter and rinsed it out in the new pond so hopefully it will get it started with the good bacteria stuff. That little pond in front has stayed amazingly clear. I think because it was so choked with plants, lol. Now I have some spread out between the two at least the fish have room to swim now, lol.

Everything looks great. That's the lightest color bloom I've seen from the amethystina cross. It's very pretty. I'm also surprised that it has a scent as none of the others from that batch did. I hope it's not as stinky as Sunburst.

Holy Moly, after I posted this I went back outside and found more on the arbor. Yay, now I have them blooming on both the arch and the arbor!

Shawn, they are amazingly easy. All I do is water every day, when I have banana peels, I do like Karyn said and chop them up, and put them in the pot.
I WAS watering every day..now it seems..since the arch fell down, and I couldnt rig it to be like it was..the pots the passies are in are now shaded. They stay moist longer, and the leaves don't wilt anymore in the midday sun. So I think a little trick here is to have the base shaded so it stays cooler and moister.

GG, thank you..That swing was my grandfather's. The squirrels ate the covering and awning part. It was his favorite place to sit, and after he passed I asked if I could have it. I finally got it here this spring, I just havent gotten around to reupholstering it yet. And that chair, o thats my fav..the cushion is up there cuz it was wet and needed to dry. I love that chair, but the puppies decided wicker tastes very good, and is fun to chew on. They ate one arm, and the middle support on the bottom :( That, I can't fix, but I hate to get rid of it.

Theresa, seems the BES Vine takes forever..I am still waiting on the first pod to ripen.
TD is doing great..I still havent gotten any seeds from the first spike..I am nervous I am going to miss them all and not get any! Not having luck with the cuttings. I am gonna try calling you at about 12:30.

Kristy, the tall plants are what Theresa was referring to, Thalia Dealbata. Lol, I was just looking around yesterday, and decided I need dirt too. Plants really do help clear up the water.

Karyn, It was funny, when I first sniffed it, I couldnt tell what it smelled like, just that it wasn't good, and was "animaly" lol. I plucked one and brought it in the house, and made everyone tell me what it smelled like to them. You should have seen their faces, lol..I know they were all expecting to be smelling something good!

I love the passie! (Karyn??) :) I'm getting more addicted to them as I see them! lol! Your pond - super nice! Are some of your pics of dahlias? They appear to be. The yellow, the light purple, and then the white? If so - beautiful! Thanks for sharing the pics Daniella!

What a great surprise finding blooms when you're not expecting any. They are lovely as well as your other flowers. And I think your pond looks splendid. Love seeing your photos, thanks for sharing.
