YES EL!!! your right, I googled yellow california poppy, and that's it for sure! I had no clue it was a poppy, lol. I remembered putting the stock seeds, and 2 other something elses in that pot in March..the only thing I knew what it was when it all came up was the stock.
I just got the Snow on the Mtn last summer, it easily more than doubled in size, but I can't wait for it to get even bigger. I LOVE those leaves.

Theresa, would you believe that is considered an invasive weed here, lol. But I love the flowers. The whole back 1/3 of my yard was filled with that when we moved in. Took alot of hard work and blood to get all those things out...all by myself too. You think anyone else wanted to get bloody? lol.
I left the one by the fence for privacy, just made it smaller. Was surprised to see the flowers our 1st spring here. Never even knew what it was till..last week. lol. After it's done flowering I cut it back. It's so huge this year I know it's gonna be a heck of a chore. Turns out it is from Japan..they used this as root stock for hybrid roses I think. They advised farmers to use it as fences to keep livestock in and predators out, then it just got out of control.
But I have tamed the beast, lol.

Very nice Daniella. Is your whole yard one big flowerbed? That would be so cool. I like the big rose too. Are the KO roses low maintenance? I think I have some snow on the mountain. Is it a groundcover? If it is the same thing I have, it spreads fast and controls weeds well. I have some planted in a bed and it has grown to surround my hostas and astilbes. I will post pics tomorrow if I remember.

Envy......LOL. Roses will not grow here. Too hot and humid. I like the Multiflora. Is it a constant bloomer? I tried so many and they all died. Hundreds of dollars lost and not one living rose.

The night blooming Jasmine is one of my favorites. Mine are blooming right now. Sometimes I wish I lived where plants liked to grow. I have learned to enjoy from others gardens. Thanks for the PICS. Soooo pretty.

Jim, honestly I do not know if it is a rebloomer, but now you've got me thinking..usually I prune it hard after it flowers, maybe this year I'll let it go awhile longer and see if it does rebloom.
I can't wait till my NBJ's bloom. Got any pix of yours in bloom?

Karyn, and Jim..have you guys tried the Knockout roses? They are the easiest rose to grow in my opinion. They bloom from spring till the first killing frost here. DH's uncle couldn't believe I still had roses blooming at the end of November last year, he was absolutely amazed...was the good ol KO's! I know the KO's are all the rage in Florida, they bloom year round there if I remember corectly.

Yes Shawn, the KO roses are a carefree rose, you don't even have to prune, but I am constantly removing the spent flowers and trimming off the hips. I only leave the hips over the winter. And they are disease and black spot resistant as well. But my reds have some kinda lil white spots on the leaves this year..don't know what's up with that, otherwise they look healthy, blooms are nice.
I WISH my whole yard was one big flower bed! DH and kids are ready to kill me as it is, lol. Yes, the Snow on The Mtn is a groundcover, supposed to be only 12" tall, but mine is over that, how about yours? It's so pretty isn't it? I need more.. I wonder if I can seperate that? I love variegated plants. I wish everything I had was variegated.

Karyn, yes the passi seeds, mandevilla laxa, and the night blooming jasmine are all from seeds you sent me that I started in Jan. Oh, and the KMOTGG which I absolutely LOVE BTW, it hasn't even flowered yet, but I am SO in love with the foliage..so pretty, and o soooo soft!!! I could sleep on that plant, lol. Thank you! :)

They look great especially for just being started in Jan! Roses all seem to get powdery mildew and Black Spot here, even the resistant ones and I don't use fungicides. They'll bloom just fine but halfway through the season all the foliage is gone and they look terrible. Even though I still have blooms they look stupid on bare branches. Isn't the foliage on that KMOTGG gorgeous? I wouldn't have believed how much I would like it because the standard variety is a weed here. Mine was well over 8' tall last seaon and reseeded like crazy.

Thank you Karyn! If I were you I would try the KO's. If I remember correctly, the single pinks were the original, and they seem more resistant than the reds. At least get 1 single pink KO and try her out, I think she'd do really well for you. I got my reds on the half dead rack at the end of the season last year at HD. I only paid $2 each I think. I got a bunch of 'em..gave some to my mom.

I just wish more of the KMOTGG seeds had survived. I had them stratifying no the back porch, then when they started to sprout I brought them inside and under the lights. I think that's where I went wrong..I prob should have left them in a cooler spot. But I am so happy with the one survivor, I hope I get lots of seeds from her..I want a nice lil area of just that next year!

I haven't *knock on wood* had any probs with powdery mildew since I stopped watering at dusk. I had terrible probs when I did that. Now I only water in the morning, or around noon time when the sun is being blocked from the main beds for a lil bit. Then by the time the sun is back on them the water has mostly dried off the leaves, and everything is nicely refreshed.

Gorgeous flowers, Daniella! That r. multiflora is fabulous. It will only bloom once a year in late spring. If I remember correctly there is one r. multiflora that repeat blooms but I think it has pink flowers.

Jim - I have to pitch a couple of roses just to make my parents proud. They were rose fanatics (until they sold their house, bought a sailboat and started cruising) so I've picked up some rose knowledge along the way. Have you tried 'Russelliana' also called 'Russell's Cottage Rose,' 'Harison's Yellow,' 'Gene Boerner' or 'Comte de Chambord?' My folks kept a boat in Clearlake for a while and had these varieties growing in containers on the dock.

I have so little sun here that my rose capacity is limited. But I guess that's okay - my partial shade is what led me to brugs. I can replace one addiction with another! lol

Thank you Shelley. And you are correct about the rosa multiflora, I just did some reading up on it. I have to find me one of the pink ones...or 2 or 3 lol.
I'm not happy with that foxglove, but it's looking better than my other one that is blooming. Something got to my other one I suppose. I was so excited, it's 5' tall, and still growing..had a million buds, then all of a sudden, the buds started turning brown and brittle and are falling off. The scattered ones that are opening look like crap. None of my whites or pinks are blooming yet. I am wondering if I should cut the stalk of the 5'er and let it send out a couple more with smaller flowers. I usually cut them back after they bloom anyway, to get more blooms. Ya know what..I'm gonna do it right now. Can't look any crappier than it already does. thanks again Shelley!
